Tesla can now produce 125,000 Cybercabs per year

EVwire brief: Tesla's Q2 2026 shareholder deck lists Cybercab production capacity at Gigafactory Texas at over 125,000 units per year, the first time the company has put a number on the line.

In the Q1 2026 deck, Cybercab appeared in the installed-capacity table as "Pilot Production" with no capacity figure. One quarter later, it carries a full "Production" status and the same listed capacity as the Cybertruck.

Production began during Q2, and the program is moving beyond the factory gates: engineering test drives of production Cybercabs are running on public roads, and employees have been riding Cybercabs on the Giga Texas campus since July.

We started production of Cybercab, our purpose-built autonomous EV designed to be the workhorse of our Robotaxi fleet. Engineering test drives of production Cybercabs on public roads also began during the quarter, and we began offering employee rides in Cybercabs on our Gigafactory Texas campus in July, both important precursors to Cybercab deployment in our Robotaxi fleets.

Tesla Q2 2026 Shareholder Update

A line built for 125,000+ units a year works out to over 340 Cybercabs a day at full rate. Tesla's own footnote is worth keeping in mind before extrapolating: "Installed capacity โ‰  current production rate and there may be limitations discovered as production rates approach capacity."

Context: the capacity listing caps a steady drumbeat from the program this year: 70+ Cybercabs in Giga Texas outbound lots back in May, the EPA filing that revealed the specs (219 hp, 418-mile / 673 km range), and a new paint process designed for high-volume Cybercab manufacturing.

The deck also shows gold Cybercab bodies moving down the Texas line. The bottleneck Tesla names for vehicle output overall is not the Cybercab line but battery packs, "the main limiting factor to near-term vehicle production volume increase." Full quarter numbers are in our Q2 2026 earnings deck recap.
