EVwire brief: Tesla has added 45 Cybercabs to the company's Texas robotaxi fleet. The purpose-built vehicles appeared in the Texas Motor Carrier Credentialing System (TxMCCS) registry, joining 269 Model Ys already authorized for autonomous operation.
Tesla's automated motor vehicle authorization now covers 314 total vehicles, with the seven Cybercabs as the only non-Model Y entries.

Tesla is set to officially launch the Cybercab at a dedicated event on September 3 in Austin, Texas. The event will mark the public debut of the company's first purpose-built autonomous vehicle, designed without a steering wheel or pedals.
Tesla announced the event through its official account on X:
Tesla launched its first unsupervised Robotaxi rides in Austin on June 22, 2025 with roughly 20 Model Ys. The fleet has since grown to 276 vehicles and expanded operations to Dallas, Houston, and parts of Florida.
