EVwire brief: Tesla registered 858 vehicles in Sweden in May, as per Mobility Sweden data, up 71% year-over-year. Of those, 672 were Model Y and 185 were Model 3. Tesla captured 3.3% of the overall market and 8.0% of the BEV segment.
The Model Y ranked as Sweden's third-best-selling car for the month. Tesla also came in as the ninth best-selling automotive brand overall. Year-to-date registrations are up 57% versus the same period last year, and after just five months, Tesla has already hit 57% of its full-year 2025 total, putting it on track for a strong year in Sweden.

Context:
Tesla Sweden’s May result caps a strong run of monthly improvements. Tesla posted its first year-over-year increase in over twelve months in January, with 512 vehicles sold (+26.4% YoY), while February saw a sequential rise to 553 units (-9.8% YoY).
March rebounded sharply to 1,784 registrations (+144% YoY), and Tesla's strongest month in the country in 15 months. During the month, the Model Y also became the country’s best-selling car. This trend continued in April, when Tesla Sweden reported 429 registrations (+111% YoY).
The broader Swedish electric vehicle market was healthy in May, too. Mobility Sweden reported BEV penetration of 41.2% in May, with overall registrations up 13% year-over-year. Private EV adoption is strengthening, with the share of private EV registrations rising from 31% to 38% compared to the same period last year.
