Genesis opens Canadian pre-Orders for high-performance GV60 Magma electric SUV

EVwire brief: Genesis Canada has opened pre-orders for the all-new GV60 Magma, the brand’s first high-performance Magma model and the first production vehicle to introduce Genesis’ Magma performance division to customers. The electric SUV recently completed a national media tour and will continue a distributor tour across Canada ahead of its expected arrival later this year.

The GV60 Magma represents a major milestone for Genesis as the first production model to carry the Magma performance badge, highlighting Canada’s role in the global rollout of Genesis’ high-performance electric lineup.

Developed as the most dynamic interpretation yet of Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy, the GV60 Magma combines performance-focused engineering with luxury refinement and distinctive styling cues.

❝

“As the first Magma model to reach Genesis guests, GV60 Magma reinforces our commitment to bringing meaningful, performance-driven products to Canadians while continuing to push the boundaries of what luxury performance can look like in an electric vehicle.”

Eric Marshall, director of Genesis Canada

he GV60 Magma sits among the highest-performance vehicles within Hyundai Motor Group’s portfolio.

Its dual-motor electric powertrain delivers:

  • 448 kW (609 horsepower) - 478 kW (650 horsepower) with Boost Mode

  • 740 Nm of torque - 790 Nm of torque with Boost Mode

Boost Mode enhances output for approximately 15 seconds, maximizing acceleration responsiveness.

Using Launch Control, the GV60 Magma can accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds, while maintaining stable power delivery at higher speeds. The vehicle also reaches a top speed of 264 km/h.

Genesis also extended the maximum output range of the rear motor to maintain consistent performance during high-power driving conditions.

Ahead of its market arrival, the GV60 Magma completed a national media tour with stops at Genesis locations in:

  • Montreal

  • Toronto

  • Vancouver

Following the media tour, Genesis is continuing a distributor tour across Canada, bringing the GV60 Magma directly to customers. Confirmed stops include:

  • Genesis Downtown Vancouver – April 22

  • Genesis Vancouver – April 28

  • Genesis Victoria – May 6

  • Genesis Kelowna – May 12

Additional Canadian tour locations will be announced in the coming weeks.

Customers interested in reserving the GV60 Magma can place pre-orders through Genesis.ca, with Canadian deliveries expected later this year. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

Genesis describes the Magma brand through three defining attributes:

Design (Unspoken Dominance): A low, wide stance that blends athletic proportions with signature Genesis sophistication.

Driving Sensation (Captivating Control): Precise management of vehicle behavior and power delivery across driving conditions.

User Experience (Sharpened Immersion): Intuitive presentation of driving information designed to enhance driver focus.

The GV60 Magma was engineered with a primary objective of delivering driving control aligned closely with driver intent, supporting what Genesis describes as the “perfection of driving control”.
