Tesla is about to open its first Superchargers in Estonia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ช

EVWire brief: Tesla is about to open its first Superchargers in Estonia, with 8 of the V4 Superchargers deployed in Pรคrnu Keskus site.

This one hits closer to home since yours truly is born, raised, and sending you this article from right here.

A Supercharger station in Estonia has been a "coming soon" on the Tesla Supercharger map for Pรคrnu since 2012.

Tesla's Supercharging Director, Max de Zegher, also confirmed to us that these are pre-built Supercharger units, one of the rare but increasing sight in Europe:

"Long time coming! And with our pre-assembled Superchargers, which often have become our highest quality builds."

Now, weโ€™re waiting for that showroom and service to pop up next (which was hinted at the Vilnius opening that Latvia and Estonia are coming "ASAP").

Not many people know that Estonia actually became the first country globally to build out a 50kW DC charging network already back in 2012. The 130+ chargers back then meant there was a fast charger at every ~40km across the nation, with more chargers in larger cities.

We do have a very solid DC charging network built out these days and some very strong CPOs that have successfully grown out of the country to other markets, while neighboring CPOs have found their way into our country too. We're quite well on the charging side, but - the EV adoption needs a little time to catch up. In 2024, just 5.2% of the cars sold were fully electric.

Meanwhile, Tesla Model 3 overtook as the dominant EV model on our roads as recently as last year (image of live statistics in replies), now 828 Tesla Model 3s and 569 Model Ys on our streets as of today. Nissan LEAF currently fits in between there with 614 units sold.

The Teslas often don't reach our statistics as newly bought - most are imported as low or mid-mileage vehicles from Germany, Netherlands, Sweden etc. It's a purchasing power thing...

Having covered the EV industry professionally for more than four years now, and with it having covered Tesla in-depth so often, it's great to see an actual official presence in our country.
