EVWire brief: Grounded, the maker of smart modular electric vans, unveiled the G3, its most advanced all-electric RV yet, built on the Chevrolet BrightDrop Zevo 400 / 600 chassis, and rated for 286 miles of range on a single charge. The prices start at $165k and the G3 begins customer deliveries in July 2025.

Here’s the Grounded mission statement:

“We don’t just build electric vans — we design configurable, smart, beautiful spaces inside them. Every Grounded unit is customized by use case both for camper vans and work vans, they're off-grid capable and come with Grounded+ software for always-on support and full control of your van or fleet from anywhere in the world. “

Here’s a bit about the vehicle:

It comes with three trims

  • G3 Form ($165K): A sleek, minimalist build with a queen bed and essential furnishings

  • G3 Function ($180K): Adds expanded kitchen, lounge, and power for extended trips

  • G3 Freedom ($200K): Fully loaded with max battery, Starlink, lift bed, bathroom, and bespoke finishes

And these aren’t meant as only recreational vehicles, you know the #vanlife type, either. In fact, even their website is built up to showcase different types of uses, from Campers to Pets to Food & Beverage industry:

Resource: Here is the configurator tool for the back of the vehicle, you can really go through every single inch in 15 steps, from the heat pump to which Starlink option you want:

And here are some of the benefits they’ve brought out:

  • Four-season ready: self-heating LiFePO batteries power onboard systems down to 0 °F, while improved insulation and a redesigned swing-out rear door boost thermal efficiency.

  • Modular build: aluminum framing, 100 % recycled interior panels and a motorised lift bed that expands to California-King size; layouts customised in a real-time 3D Configurator tool.

  • Off-grid kit: 1,000 W rooftop solar, up to 20 kWh house battery, and a 1,400 W vehicle-to-house power export system.

  • Safety and charging: all-wheel drive, 11,000-pound GVWR, GM safety suite, CCS fast charging plus a CCS-to-NACS adapter for Tesla Superchargers.

At $165k to 200k depending on trim, the G3 undercuts Winnebago’s eRV2 concept, but is also higher than the Ford-E-Transit-based Coachmen Nova (~$150k).

Quotes:

❝Every improvement from materials to layout was shaped by feedback from G2 owners. The G3 is smarter, stronger and more adaptable than any other offering on the market today. The G3 is a next-gen offering for travellers who want to live, work and roam in comfort, grounded in what matters.❞

Consider this:

Now, Grounded is built on BrightDrop’s vans. And as it goes in the industry, this always comes with risks. And BrightDrop, even though it is a General Motors’ brand, is becoming increasingly riskier as a bet. In April this year, about 1,200 workers were laid off at CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, that were working on BrightDrop.

In May, a brief limited run finished existing orders, and then the plant went idle for retooling. In October 2025, the operations there should be resumed, but on just a single shift geared towards building the 2026 model year ZEVO vans, leaving about 500 positions permanently cut.

Grounded will rely heavily on BrightDrop being able to successfully restart production - as we root for the EV industry here at EVwire, we hope they ramp up well.
