EVwire brief: Polestar has announced their largest EV model expansion, confirming four new electric vehicles over the next three years, set to include the Polestar 5 Grand Tourer, a new Polestar 4 variant, a next-generation Polestar 2, and the compact SUV Polestar 7.
With the announcement of their ambitious product roadmap, the company expects low double-digit retail volume growth in 2026, alongside a planned 30% expansion of its retail network.

The Four New Polestar EVs
Polestar 5 – Deliveries Begin Summer 2026
First revealed in 2025, the four-door Grand Tourer is Polestar’s halo vehicle. Deliveries are expected to begin in summer 2026.
According to CEO Michael Lohscheller, the Polestar 5 brings a new level of performance and luxury to the GT segment, featuring:
Lightweight bonded aluminium platform
Performance-focused handling
Strong early reviews during its European launch tour
Polestar 4 – New Variant Launching Q4 2026
The Polestar 4, currently the brand’s best-seller, will receive a new variant later this year, with deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Polestar says the new version will:
Target a broader customer base
Offer enhanced versatility
Maintain the same core technology
The company describes the Polestar 4 as combining the space of an estate with the versatility of an SUV, alongside dynamic performance.
Polestar 2 – All-New Successor in 2027
The Polestar 2, which has sold more than 190,000 units globally, will be replaced by a completely new next-generation model launching in early 2027.
The sedan that established Polestar’s brand identity will continue to play a central role in its electrification strategy.
Polestar 7 – Compact SUV Arriving in 2028
The Polestar 7 will enter the compact premium SUV segment in 2028 — a category that accounted for approximately one-third of total BEV volumes in Europe in 2025.
Polestar says the vehicle will:
Target the largest EV segment in Europe
Offer progressive, performance-driven design
Be built in Europe
Deliver an attractive price point
Strategic Focus: Growth and Profitability
“Following our best sales year ever, we are now launching the largest model offensive in our history, with four premium EVs coming to market within three years. We are targeting the heart of the EV market, where customer demand and profit pools are high.”
Key strategic pillars include:
Expanding into high-value EV segments
Accelerating product launches
Growing the retail sales channel
Expanding the global retail network
Polestar expects its sales mix to shift toward a greater share of Polestar 4 deliveries in 2026. The company also plans to continue prioritizing retail channel growth to drive higher-quality sales performance.
