EVwire brief: Tesla China sold 89,091 vehicles wholesale in June, its biggest month of 2026 and a 24.43% jump over a year ago, per China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data released Thursday. June also stretched Tesla China's year-on-year growth run to eight consecutive months, a streak that stands out against the declines it was posting through the same stretch of 2025.
The June figure edged May's 85,982 by 3.62%. For the full second quarter, Tesla China's wholesale volume came to 254,551 units, up 32.77% year-on-year, and the first-half total now sits at 467,949, a 28.39% gain.
Here’s an overview of Tesla China’s 2026 numbers so far, as compiled by industry watcher Tsla Chan on X:
Wholesale volume covers everything leaving Giga Shanghai, both cars retailed in China and exports to other markets. The CPCA's June split isn't out yet and should follow in the coming days. May's breakdown gives a sense of the mix: 47,281 domestic retail sales, up 22.53%, alongside 38,701 exports, which surged 67.73% from a year earlier.
Shanghai's quarter underlines how much of Tesla's record 480,126-delivery Q2 ran through the plant, with its 254,551 wholesale units feeding both Chinese buyers and export markets, including a recovering Europe.

Giga Shanghai is still Tesla’s largest factory by output
Context:
Part of the China momentum traces to financing. In May, Tesla rolled out an "Easy Loan" program aimed at making its vehicles reachable for more Chinese buyers: the Model 3 rear-wheel drive, which starts at 235,500 yuan (about $34,720), can be had on a five-year plan with as little as 55,900 yuan (about $8,240) down.
The wider Chinese EV market is pulling in two directions at once. Nio delivered 40,597 vehicles in June and XPeng 40,126, both 2026 monthly highs, while Leapmotor set an all-time company record at 93,376.

BYD also had an excellent June with 403,472 NEV wholesale units
At the premium end, though, Li Auto and Huawei-backed HIMA both saw deliveries fall year-on-year as competition bites. BYD, the market's heavyweight, posted 403,472 NEV wholesale units, up 5.46%, with record overseas sales doing most of the lifting.
