EVwire brief: Tesla’s European recovery accelerated sharply in March, with registrations surging across France and the Nordic region. The surge followed a challenging 2025, when the company lost nearly half its European market share.
Tesla registrations in France rose 203% year-over-year to 9,569 vehicles in March, just below its December 2023 record. Momentum also extended across Northern Europe, with registrations climbing 178% in Norway, 144% in Sweden, and 96% in Denmark, based on figures from OFV, Mobility Sweden, and regional datasets.
The rebound aligned with Tesla’s rollout of more affordable versions of the Tesla Model Y and Tesla Model 3 in late 2025. The company also previously informed British media that vehicle deliveries are typically weighted toward quarter-end.
In Sweden, the Model Y ranked as the most registered vehicle overall, thanks in no small part to the affordable, base Model Y.
In Norway, Tesla captured 34.8% of all new passenger car registrations, with the Model Y alone accounting for 23% of the market and the Model 3 close to 10%.

In the Netherlands, Tesla recorded 1,819 sales in March, capturing 5.8% market share and 16.7% of the BEV segment. The Tesla Model Y ranked as the second best-selling car, helping Tesla place sixth overall, with the Tesla Model 3 making up most of Tesla’s remaining volume.
Results rose 18% year-over-year and exceeded recent averages, but remained down sharply from December, with year-to-date sales still trailing last year by 23%.
Tesla’s March performance indicates its pricing strategy and refreshed lineup are successfully restoring demand in Europe. While full quarterly data is still pending for several markets, the month’s results suggest that Tesla’s European sales trajectory has shifted back to expansion.
That being said, sustaining this momentum will depend on Tesla maintaining its competitive pricing and product relevance in the region’s evolving EV market.
