EVWire brief: xAI’s Grok chatbot will appear in Tesla vehicles “next week at the latest,” Elon Musk said on X after unveiling Grok 4. The feature is expected to reach employee cars first, as usual with Tesla’s updates, and likely out to regular customers within weeks.
Grok is coming to Tesla vehicles very soon. Next week at the latest.

Details:
Grok’s in-car interface was hidden in software update 2025.20 and will likely surface in a coming build such as 2025.24 or 2025.26, which Tesla typically pushes in stages.
No geographical hints yet, unsure if this makes it to Europe, China or elsewhere and we can assume an US rollout first.
Initial support is likely limited to AMD Ryzen-based infotainment systems; Intel-equipped vehicles will follow once performance is validated. It requires premium connectivity and account pairing — you’ll need to log in with your Grok account.
Code leaks show Grok can replace the current voice-command system, handle conversational queries and trigger vehicle functions (e.g., open glove box).
The Tesla app already includes Grok login hooks, suggesting most back-end plumbing is live.
Musk did not specify whether cars will ship with Grok 3 or Grok 4, although the answer did come under Sawyer’s post on the launch of Grok 4.
Now, we’ve already have had a peek into the interface Tesla will use, thanks to the Tesla hacker @greentheonly who has detailed Grok's in-car rollout in recent firmware and even shared some images with us that I’ve compiled here:

There’s the three voices (Ara, Rex, Gork) and different modes: argumentative, assistant, conspiracy, doctor, kids_story, kids_trivia_game, language tutor, meditation, motivation, romantic, sexy, storyteller, therapist, unhinged. Here are the icons for these you’ll find in the same order:
