our new EVWire platform is here 👋

Caution! High Voltage! ⚡️

Welcome to the EVWire
… for the very first time.

Hey, Jaan here.

That guy from EV Universe.

Okay… who am I kidding? You probably know just one Jaan, it’s a weird name that doesn’t look real. And that’s a good thing, since… I am still here, but the EV Universe is no more.

It took me another five or so all-nighters, but it’s finally done

This next step in evolution of the EV Universe, now the EVwire platform, starts the ecosystem I’ve had in my mind since I started this newsletter more than four years ago.

The TL;DR version of what this means to you is:

  1. Our newsletters will keep going — they’ll now move back to regular schedule and will level up just because we have more context;

  2. You gain a huge EV media platform that you can find EV articles daily, in a no-bullshit, info-up-front manner

  3. You gain access to live-updating EV Resources on the platform that I’ve built around the news, and you’ll be able to niche it all down to just your side of the industry.

It’s our next step in setting EV information truly free.

So what have I built to make this happen? Take a look at the EVwire.com site here, or follow my explainers below as I take it all to pieces. Treat this email as a walkthrough, with a mix of my manifesto of how we’ll do things from now on.

First arriving at the site, you’ll be greeted with this:

You can immediately log in on the upper right corner with your email (you can also set a password), to take advantage of your membership, use comment section etc. And if you’re a paid member, you’ll automatically access all the Insider sections and resources.

Now, what sets us apart from the others:

THE CORE EV NEWS FEED

This is where all the articles that I make daily pop up. The more important ones are highlighted as ‘featured’.

The goal: if you don’t have time to read a lot, you can get all the top-level info from the headline.

EVWire means anti-clickbait headlines, with actual info upfront in the headline.

And I aim to cover a lot more EV industry news, resources, videos, than anyone else around. We aim for the full picture.

your endless EV feed

And when you do click into any of the news, you’ll notice that in each article, the first paragraph is called “EVWire Brief”, which gives you everything that is important to know. Concise. No fluff.

Only then, the rest of the article follows… and in there, we also skip the fluff — no ‘industry-leading’ and ‘breakthrough’ or other mumbo jumbo. Just like our newsletters have been.

Important: EVWire is a biased news site. But the bias is only towards EVs. Politics has no place here, nothing is skewed in either way, and I don’t think opinion articles find a place here often either.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLES: CATEGORY WIRES

I’ve built a whole hierarchy of tags and systems around every single news piece to unlock added value: industry-specific dedicated feeds.

As you can see, these won’t be your usual “oh I clicked a tag and it’ll just show me the news on this tag” type of pages. These can pretty much be considered as standalone publications. It’s everything specific to the industry — note the charging-specific stocks, or charging-specific events, and M&A funding data on the right side.

We started with Battery-, Charging-, and Teslawire, but I am creating more categories here along the way, including a dedicated ‘profile’ page like this for every country, every automaker, every charging company, and eventually every single company operating in the EV landscape.

Oh, and there will be sub-categories for you on each industry. On Charging, that would be something like:
Regional | CPO news | Software | Hardware | Funding | Fleet Charging | DC | AC…

By the way, you can find those Wire Categories right on our main page, or up there in the nav bar, any time.

And that’s all just on the daily news side.

While most news sites create an article, then move on to the next right away, I’m taking a different approach. Every news is data for us, every news adds to the larger context.

So whenever you see me publish an article on EV sales, on a partnership, on an acquisition or funding round, on an EV event or pretty much anything — expect this info to flow into another part of the website somewhere to create context:

THE RESOURCES

See the resources on the right side of the menu on our home page (on mobile it’s on the menu bar or below the news feed).

You can see that EVwire is basically an EV industry terminal, a hub, a base. We’ve got the news feed that gathers way more EV industry news than anyone else → and we are now tracking more than anyone else.

I have some databases and resources running on shadow mode for now, but here is what I’ve built for you already:

RESOURCE 1: EV STOCK TRACKER

This EV Stock Tracker took me weeks to put together, but I think you’ll love it.

I believe this, with 107 EV industry stocks across 7 categories, is the largest interactive real-time dashboard of public EV industry companies out there.

Everything you see is updating live.

Here, the first category — EV makers with 20 companies listed — is free. The rest of the categories, all laid out in a similar manner with 87 stocks and counting, is available to the EVwire Insiders.

Oh, did I mention? We are calling the formerly EV Universe Pro members now: EVwire Insiders.

If you are already a member, you don’t need to change anything — just log in and check the EVWire Insider Hub for everything you’ll have access to and what’s planned.

If you’re not a paid member yet, check out all the Insider perks.

RESOURCE 2: EV EVENT CALENDAR

Our EVent calendar is now available to everyone. You can find all professional and broader EV community events all in one calendar. Filterable per industry and region, and all the info you need displayed right there when clicking.

RESOURCE 3: EV INDUSTRY FUNDING TRACKER

Our EV Funding Tracker page and table will showcase all the acquisitions and funding rounds that we cover on our news section. I told you every news article is actually data.

You’ll find a sortable & filterable table with all funding rounds (we’ll cover everything) both by industry, by company, and more. And below the table, you’ll see an automatically created feed of all news articles where we’ve specifically covered funding news.

From here, some of the info will in turn go towards the profile or wire pages of companies or specific industries (e.g chargingwire will only show the latest charging related funding news).

RESOURCE 4: EV SALES TRACKER

You’ve gotten my yearly EV sales roundups, the largest of such freely accessible in our industry. Now, I’m creating a nearly live version of that with our EV Sales Tracker resource.

You’ll currently find the 2024 roundup data there, the monthly & quarterly data collection is currently running in the ‘shadow mode’ ;).

On the end of that page, you’ll again find a news feed that directly shows you our latest articles about EV sales per regions (left), or EV sales per automakers (right). This info will also feed into the upcoming profile pages of all automakers, and countries.

And like I said — I’ve got more in store for you behind the scenes, launching soon. :)

Now, since I did all that solo, I probably broke like 1,000 unspoken design rules there. Whoops. Send me any piece of feedback if something feels out of place. I mean — I built it specifically for you, so do let me know how it feels like.

If some sections or niches look a little sparse in info, just check back in a few days as I’m populating it all with daily articles and info.

To all EV industry professionals here among our 13,636 readers: with the new EV media empire come new ways to partner up with me — send me an email by replying to this letter, if you think your company (any EV-related niche) would benefit from a strong partnership elevating your brand (where I do all the heavy lifting) and giving your team the insights you need to stay ahead in your niche at the very same time.

To every EV geek here ( that’s you ) : You can support me in building all this out, consider becoming a paid member (here). You’ll also access plenty of revamped perks!

PS, if you want to be extra early, you can be one of the very first followers of the new EVWire page on LinkedIn here, and on 𝕏 @theevwire here.

See you soon for our first new EVWire newsletter ;)
