EVwire brief: EVgo has opened its first EVgo Supercharger site, a 12-stall station near downtown Chicago. This is the first of “hundreds” of such sites under Tesla’s Supercharger for Business partnership.
The chargers sit at a grocery-anchored shopping center owned by Regency Centers, a longtime EVgo partner. They come with Tesla's Magic Dock, so NACS and CCS cars can both plug in without bringing their own adapter. The maximum available power is 325kW per stall.
The pricing is $0.25/kWh to $0.35/kWh depending on the hours (see below), regardless if it is a Tesla charging there or another EV.
It's the first dozen of the "hundreds" of stalls EVgo expects to open under the EVgo and Tesla Supercharger deal it signed with Tesla in August.

As per EVgo CEO Badar Khan:
“Deploying our first EVgo Supercharger marks an important milestone in growing our customer base while supporting the EV industry’s transition to NACS. By serving both Tesla and non-Tesla NACS drivers, we’re doubling EVgo’s addressable market and continuing to meet EV drivers where they are and where they want to charge.”
EVgo Superchargers show up in the Tesla Trip Planner and in the car's own navigation. The rest of the network is getting there too: EVgo locations with NACS stalls started appearing in Tesla's in-car navigation in early September, for drivers who switch on third-party charging in the nav.

EVgo says its initial Supercharger stations will be located at grocery-anchored Regency properties, and the two companies expanded their partnership in September with plans for more than 400 new stalls at Regency centers.
EVgo already runs 150+ stalls at the centers, a relationship that started with a single charger in 2020.
EVgo points to Illinois' growth to explain the location: EV registrations in the state are up nearly 60% over the last two years, per Illinois Secretary of State data.

Context:
EVgo signed up for Tesla's Supercharger for Business program in August. EVgo owns the stalls, chooses where they go and sets the price, while Tesla builds and runs them under a long-term arrangement, as Khan put it on the company's Q2 earnings call. Read our article on it here:
The August announcement promised V4 hardware at up to 500 kW and 1,000 volts, good for up to 200 miles (322 km) in 15 minutes. Today's release puts a 325 kW figure in place, at least for this first station. From other Supercharging for Business sites, we just wrote about EVODS' new six-stall site in Washington, which is also rated up to 325 kW per stall.
The Superchargers come on top of EVgo's own NACS rollout. The company had 240 NACS connectors in operation at the end of July and expects to reach 500 NACS stalls nationwide by the end of this year, not counting the Superchargers. Within two years, it wants a NACS connector at every site built in 2023 or later.
EVgo reports its Q3 results on November 9.
