You know how we went from charging to fast charging to ultra-fast charging?
This is one of those category jumps.
BYD is inbound for Europe and some other countries (sorry US, not yet) with their 1,500 kW Flash Charging… for passenger cars!
Initially, I wrote BYD’s efforts at charging a passenger EV with 1.5MW off as an ultra-niche thing… after all, for most EV owners the charging stops already embed into their lives nicely at current power levels.
But looking at how it has already built out over 7,000 Flash Charging stalls across 325 cities in China, is now starting it out in Europe at a similarly crazy scale, and how BYD is actually going to offer the same experience throughout its cheaper side of the lineup…
I’ve reconsidered.
It is a category jump that will have big implications on our EV world.
So I went and gathered every single detail, fresh down to this week, and put it all in this 22-page beautifully crafted PDF. I created graphs. I pulled videos. I researched every alternative (it’s not just BYD pursuing this anymore btw).
