I feel that our EV industry has a tidal wave coming in, in addition to all thatโs going on already. That wave is autonomous vehicles. More specifically, robotaxis. Fully autonomous vehicles chauffeuring us, or packages, around.
The robotaxi rollout is nearly all fully electric, because it only makes sense to roll them out as such. And this will have a very, very strong impact on turning our overall car fleet electric worldwide as well. It almost feels like a lucky boost to the EV transition, the timing of these robotaxi service and technology rollouts.
Robotaxis have been announced as โcomingโ for a while now. The most obvious one has perhaps been some nearly-trillionaire dude calling it out since ~2015.
Well, I can confidently say now:
The robots have arrived.
Quite a lot of them, in fact. In the upcoming year 2026, there will be, guaranteed, tens of millions of people globally who will experience a robotaxi ride. Most of them ride one for the first time ever.
How is it guaranteed, you ask?
I estimate, through my extensive research, that just this week alone, around a million robotaxi rides were completed all over the world. That already puts us at around 50 million or more run rate of robotaxi rides per year globally.
Yes indeed, the robots have arrived.
