EVWire brief: Slate Auto, which just recently unveiled its customizable low-cost electric pickup truck (or SUV if you go modular) in the US, said to Techcrunch it has now recorded over 100,000 $50 refundable reservations from people.
โWe are truly humbled by Americaโs response to Slateโs brand launch and the launch of our truck. We are excited for what the future holds.โ
On our Funding Tracker, youโll find a note of Slate Auto raised a Series A round of $111M in 2023 and has closed a Series B late last year, with investors including Jeff Bezos, Guggenheim Partners CEO Mark Walter, and VC firm General Catalyst.
The company has said the truck will start below $20,000 after applying the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. Of course, it seems that this tax credit might be on its way out.
We are of course rooting for Slate Auto to make it happen, but canโt stop wondering about this one thingโฆ
