EVwire brief: The Tesla Model X is the fastest-selling used car in the U.S. auto market in March, averaging about 26 days on dealer lots versus 59 days for used cars overall, according to iSeeCars data.
At the same time, used Tesla Model S pricing has strengthened, rising 9.3% year-over-year even as broader used EV prices declined.
“Only one electric vehicle makes the list of top 20 cars with the largest price increase over the past year. Not surprisingly, given Tesla’s recent performance in the used car market, it’s the Model S.”
Tesla vehicles are also the fastest-selling EVs overall at 32.4 days, compared to 60.1 days for non-Tesla EVs. Non-Tesla EV prices fell 10.3% year-over-year, while Tesla prices remained stable, pointing to sustained demand for the brand’s vehicles.

The Tesla Model S and Model X were refreshed one final time in 2025
Context:
The iSeeCars study analyzed 6.7 million used vehicles aged one to five years, comparing Q1 2025 and Q1 2026.
iSeeCars’ rankings of the 20 fastest-selling used cars in March 2026 were filled with Teslas. Even the Cybertruck made the list, averaging just 33.3 days on the market.
Data from Cox Automotive supports the trend. Tesla led used EV sales in March with 15,385 units sold, while also posting the lowest days’ supply among major brands at about 30 days.
Here’s the rankings:

Used EV prices overall declined 6.1% year-over-year to an average of $34,653, but Tesla prices increased 1.5% month-over-month to $32,045.
Used EV sales reached 42,924 units in March, up 27.7% year-over-year and and 53.9% month over month.
From this number, 15,385 units were Teslas, making them the top-selling used EVs in the United States.

The Cybertruck was the United States’ 7th fastest-selling used vehicle in March 2026
Model S and Model X demand holds as supply gets capped
The strong performance of the Model X and Model S is not unsurprising considering that both vehicles are among Tesla’s most expensive brand-new vehicles, and they are also being discontinued.
Back in January, Elon Musk announced that the Model S and Model X programs would end with an “honorable discharge.” To commemorate the departure of the two vehicles, Tesla has rolled out a limited final Signature Edition.
Here’s how they look:

The Model X Signature is sold out, and only a few Model S Signature units are left
Only 250 Model S Signature Editions and only 100 Model X Signature Editions will be made, and they will be delivered during a farewell ceremony on May 12.
Considering that the Model S and Model X are being discontinued, the vehicles are now very rare. The units in the used market are the last Model S and X that will ever be available.
This really cool video from Hagerty highlights just how important the Model S has become in automotive history. It’s a good sendoff to the vehicle’s legacy.
