Tesla is attracting private buyers in Germany
Industry expert Ferdinand Dudenhöffer attributed Tesla’s surge to company-led incentives, such as discounts of around €3,000 alongside financing offers, rather than government subsidies.
Data from February indicated that 66% of Tesla registrations were private buyers, suggesting strong consumer demand rather than fleet-driven volume.
This represents a notable recovery in Germany, considering the company’s sales drop in 2025 due to factors like the Model Y changeover in the first quarter and consumer apprehension over CEO Elon Musk’s politics.
Tesla’s Q1 2026 production exceeded deliveries, with approximately 408,000 vehicles produced versus around 358,000 delivered.
