EVwire brief: Einride and Amazon are deploying 75 electric heavy-duty trucks across five U.S. locations to support Amazon’s freight network.
The trucks are expected to deliver up to 3 million electric miles annually and will be managed using Einride’s Saga AI software. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Einride announced the update on its official account on LinkedIn:

Context:
The deployment follows a successful pilot between the two companies and will focus on Amazon’s middle-mile logistics network, which moves goods between warehouses and distribution hubs.
Einride will provide not just the vehicles, but also charging infrastructure and fleet management software, allowing Amazon to expand electrification without directly owning or operating all assets.
Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli said:
“Working with Amazon is yet another powerful validation of Einride’s technology and strategic vision. By deploying our intelligent platform within one of the world’s most sophisticated logistics networks, we are accelerating growth, while continuing to build industry-leading operational expertise.”
The trucks will be integrated into Amazon Relay operations, with Einride’s Saga AI handling routing, energy management, and charging planning for select loads.
Scaling electric truck fleets
The structure of the deal reflects a broader shift in how large logistics players are approaching electrification. As could be seen in this deal:
Amazon leverages third-party operators instead of owning fleets outright
Einride provides a full-stack solution, from trucks and charging to management software
Deployment focuses on middle-mile routes, where electrification is more feasible
This comes as the U.S. electric trucking sector continues to face slower-than-expected adoption, following setbacks from companies like Nikola and a gradual rollout of electric delivery vans developed by companies like Rivian.
The Tesla Semi, despite being unveiled in late 2017, is only entering mass production this year following a design refresh.
