Global EV Sales Report H1 2025: Exact EV sales numbers for each country

I first created this massive EV Sales overview resource as an interactive experience (give it a spin), but I thought I’d also give it to you in so-called plain old paper (that’s if you print it out, that is), which takes a bit less scrolling. Enjoy!

I'm about to present to you a story.

We will explore the global EV sales from the whole world in the first half of 2025.

The maxim above, about information wanting to be free, has become my mantra while building the EVwire to become the largest EV intelligence platform out there.

With this EV sales report and the weeks I've put into researching it all, we are actively fighting against the gated information that usually only large corporations can access.

This one is for everyone.

For the first half of 2025, I’ve managed to track down 5,814,784 battery-electric vehicle sales across 65 markets.

This means you'll see 98% of all EV sales that took place in H1 2025 broken down for you below.

Every 7^th (well really every 6.5^th) vehicle sold in the world is now fully electric.

We've come a long way.

In 2010, just 7,200 battery electric cars were sold globally for the whole year.

Today, nearly 15 years later, the same amount of BEVs is sold every 5.3 hours!

In other words, 1,354 BEVs are delivered globally every hour today.

As you can tell from the graph, this year promises to become another record-breaking one for EVs.

With 3,349,808 BEV sales in China ,it grew 43.7% in the first half of 2025,compared to H1 2024.China reached a 30.8% EV market share.

Yes, nearly every third car sold in China is fully electric right now. And in an interesting turn of events, the first reversal since 2023 happened with BEV share rising yet the PHEV share declining.

For the first time in history, China also exported over 1 million NEVs (which is BEV + PHEVs) in H1, with 1,056,000 units shipped, up +74.3% from 606k units in H1 2024.

Fleet size: as of June 2025, there were 359 million cars on the road in China. 10.3% of them, 36.9 million, were NEVs. Of those NEVS, 69.2% were all-electric, the rest were PHEVs.

Top 3 best-selling EVs in China in H1 2025:

With 1,190,346 EV sales in Europe, it grew 24.9% in the first half of 2025. Europe reached a 17.5% EV market share, up from 13.87% a year ago. It is also notable that the overall European car market shrank by 0.9% in the same time.

In other words, every 6th car sold in Europe in the first half of 2025 was fully electric.

Here are the top 3 best-selling EVs in Europe:

With 607,089 EV sales, the US remained rather stagnant, growing +1.2% in the first half of 2025. It now sits at a 7.30% EV market share, a slight drop compared to last year.

In other words, every 14th car sold in the US is fully electric.

These are the best-selling EV models in the US in the first half of 2025:

A strong second half of the year is expected due to the federal tax credit that ended on September 30th.

2025 marks the first year where the Rest of the World passes the US in EV sales per unit and as the share of the global EV market, just as we've expected.

With 781,809 EV sales in the H1 2025, the RoW saw a +47.7% rise in EV sales and achieved a ~6.3% EV market share.

We've already covered 🇨🇳 China and the 🇺🇸 US, the two giants in BEV sales units per country.

In the US, California has always made up the largest share of the sales, this year amounting to 27.8% with its 168,751 BEV sales. EVs made up 18.7% of all car sales there. California’s EV sales have dropped -12.6% compared to last year, which means that the rest of the United States was growing faster (+7.8%) to get the US YoY score into the slightly positive +1.2%.

The third to fifth largest EV countries in the world are in Europe:

🇩🇪 Germany takes third place in the world, with 248,726 EV sales in the first half of 2025, growing +35.1% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 12.5% to 17.7%, which is a strong bounce back after the 18.4% → 13.5% market share drop in 2024, due to the sudden cut of the environmental bonus for EVs at the end of 2023.

Every 6th car sold in Germany is now fully electric.

Next comes the country that even managed to snatch the title from Germany for the last year in EV sales in Europe (it was a close call), but is now back in second place:

🇬🇧 United Kingdom is the fourth-largest country in EV sales in the world, with 224,841 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +34.6% year over year. The EV market share rose from 16.6% to 21.6%.

The growth rate for the UK seems to be accelerating here, as 2024 and 2023 both showed “just” growth in the 20% range. The market share jump by 5% so far this year is especially significant considering that we are dealing with a large car market here. Every fifth car now sold in the UK is fully electric!

The third spot in units in Europe and fifth overall is taken up by the fourth-largest car market in Europe:

🇫🇷 France: 148,332 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, declining -6.4% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 17.3% to 17.6%.

What has caused a large market like France to record one of the rare drops in EV sales in Europe this year? First off, what is notable here is that although the overall EV sales showed a decline from the first half of last year, the EV share of all cars actually increased slightly.

Part of the slowdown might be caused by the uncertainty due to the announcement of the ecological bonus ending from 1 July 2025, plus a pause and later re-launch of social leasing scheduled for late September. With its 17.6% EV market share, France closely matches the Europe EV sales share average of 17.5%.

#🇰🇷 South Korea made it to the 6th largest BEV market in the world, with 92,731 BEV sales and turning from a negative 2024 into a +39.4% growth in H1 2025 year-over-year.

The EV market share went from 8.30% to now 11.22%.

🇹🇷 Türkiye is this year's surprise, jumping from the 12th place in the world in EV sales to 7th this first half of the year!

And no wonder: with 84,738 EV sales for the first half, it more than doubled with +138% year-over-year. The EV market share jumped accordingly, from 7.70% in H1 2024 to 17.36% in H1 2025.

Turkey's EV sales are pushed by two strong forces: the state-owned EV maker Togg - which just announced expanding abroad by the way, and Tesla, with the latter making up 35% of all EV sales in June.

🇧🇪 Belgium took the 8th spot: 76,980 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +19.5% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 24.45% to 32.8%.

EVs have taken over Belgium by storm in the past few years.

Consider that in 2022, only 9.8% of all cars sold there were electric, jumped to 19.6% in 2023, then another leap to 28% in 2024, and they have reached 32.8% EV market share today.

🇮🇳 India takes the 9th place in the world in EV sales volume. With 71,296 BEVs sold, yes only 4-wheelers are counted here, the sales grew +46.2% year-over-year.

EVs now make up 3.66% of all passenger car sales in H1 2025, up from 2% same time last year.

We are very glad to see this huge car market, now the third-largest auto market in the world after China & US, go electric at a great pace year by year.

With the country slowly opening up to foreign automakers, as Tesla just opened its official presence in India and others are on the way, the competition will surely further boost EV sales.

🇳🇴 Norway. The so-called poster child of EV adoption is still at it. We're not even talking much of EV transition here anymore; you can pretty much call it done.

70,748 BEVs were sold in Norway in the first half of 2025, growing 37.6% year-over-year and achieving a 93.7% EV market share.

The 93.7% EV market share means that every 16th car that is sold in Norway is now not a fully electric vehicle.

The transition of the overall fleet on the roads takes more time, however. As of first half of 2025, the powertrain share in Norway's existing auto fleet showed the battery electric vehicles (BEVs) reaching around 29.5%, almost surpassing Diesel with 32.9% and now past Petrol at 25%.

Commercial vans in Norway are next up in transition, as ~45% of new vans in 2025 so far are electric, up from ~29% last year.

Now, let's take a tour of the countries that have shown the highest year-over-year EV sales growth:

While the global EV sales grew 29.1% this first half of 2025, out of the 60 markets that I analyzed (making up 98% of all EV sales that took place),

47 countries grew their EV sales year-over-year, and 13 markets decreased in EV sales year-over-year.

I guarantee that some of these will surprise you.

#1 🇨🇴 Colombia +203.3%, In the first half of 2025, Colombia tripled its EV sales with 7,292 delivered, taking the #1 EV growth market position this year.

The EV market share jumped to 7% in the country.

Just like last year, you'll notice the "Rest of World" countries at the highest growth rates.

#2: 🇮🇩 Indonesia +168.6%, Indonesia took the #2 EV growth market spot globally in H1 2025, with 36,611 EV sales making up 12.51% of all cars sold.

The market share jump is nothing short of incredible: from just 3.90% a year ago in H1 2024 to 12.5% in the first half of 2025! It is also interesting that there are virtually no PHEV sales in the country.

#3 🇮🇸 Iceland +138.6%, 2,283 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025 in Iceland, growing +138.6% year-over-year! The EV market share rose from 15.1% to 28.95%.

Iceland’s EV journey has been fascinating to watch. In 2023, Iceland ended up with 50% of all cars sold fully electric... and then by the turn of the year, the government imposed a €0.04/kilometer charge on EVs and revoked the VAT exemption.

This caused a significant drop back to a 26% EV market share in 2024.

But now, even though EVs got knocked down like this, the sales are still climbing back up: 29% of all Iceland's car sales were fully electric in Jan-June 2025, and the country recorded the highest EV growth rate in EV sales in Europe in 2025.

#4: 🇹🇷 Türkiye +138%, We already covered Türkiye's success this year, as it achieved the 7th spot in the world by EV units sold in the first half of 2025.

With 84,738 EV sales, the EV market share jumped from 7.70% in H1 2024 to 17.36% in H1 2025.

#5: 🇪🇨 Ecuador +122.8%, another small yet interesting auto market to watch, Ecuador had 1,504 EV sales in first half of 2025, more than doubling (+122.8%) its EV sales, which now reached 3% of all cars sold.

#6: 🇺🇾 Uruguay +122.1%, Uruguay had 4,929 EV sales in the first half of 2025, growing +122.1% YoY, and kept a 15% EV market share.

#7: 🇵🇪 Peru +102.8%, the mighty EV growth in the small auto market of Peru saw 367 new EVs hit the street in the first half of 2025, achieving a 1% EV market share.

#8: 🇪🇸 Spain +83.9%, 46,235 EVs sold in Spain Jan-June 2025, growing +83.9% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 4.70% to 7.6%.

It’s always great to see large car markets find their EV gear, and Spain, the fifth-largest car market in Europe, nearly doubling its EV sales, fits that well.

The Spanish market still has a strong incentive scheme, and it also extended the MOVES III scheme in April 2025 until the end of this year, so we are expecting the strong uptake to continue.

So far this year, Spain has recorded the second-largest growth in EV sales in Europe.

#9: 🇨🇿 Czechia +66.67%, 6,910 EVs sold in Czechia in Jan-June 2025, growing +66.67% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 3.5% to 5.6%.

Czechia just keeps going: the EV market there grew 70% in 2023, another 63.5% in 2024, and is now looking to repeat that even this year. One of the steadiest EV transition growths we’ve seen over the past few years.

However, Czechia is just earlier in its storyline compared to some of our other EV markets. At 5.6% EV adoption, it needs to keep up this pace for a while to catch up.

#10: 🇸🇮 Slovenia +63.7%, 2,700 EVs sold in Slovenia Jan-June 2025, growing +63.7% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 5.8% to 9.05%.

After almost doubling EV sales in 2023 (+88.8%), a significant downturn followed in 2024, which made the EV market share drop from 8.85% → 5.9%. Now, Slovenia EV sales are climbing back again with a strong 2025 ahead.

🇸🇰 Slovakia actually got really close on the growth level right up next to Slovenia here, with +62.9% YoY over 2,008 EV sales, ending up at a 4.45% market share.

Now, for the main event…

The true metric for EV adoption across the world is BEV market share.

Did you know we have 19 countries in the world that have surpassed the 20% BEV market share milestone?

This is a big deal. And we have another 13 countries between 10-20%.
The global average BEV market share as of the first half of 2025 is 15.40%.

Here are the current winners in the EV race:

#1 🇳🇴 Norway, obviously, 93.69% BEV market share

... but we already knew that. And everybody knows Norway is leading. But you probably haven't heard who the #2 is these days:

#2: 🇭🇰 Hong Kong with 70.43% EV market share from the 15,398 EV sales in the first half of 2025, taking the second spot worldwide in EV adoption, much like in H1 2024.

The EV market actually decreased this year with -23.4% in sales, and the market share dropped to 70.4% from 83.6% in H1 2024.

#3 🇩🇰 Denmark with 63.85% EV market share, from the 57,178 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +46.9% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 45.1% to 63.85%.

This means nearly two out of every three cars sold are fully electric in Denmark.

And here, the increased share that EVs have taken out of the car market is especially visible, with an 18.8% jump just from one year to the next!

This is the largest EV market share jump out of all the countries we analyzed this year.

#4: 🇸🇬 Singapore with 41.0% EV market share. With 9,822 EV sales, Singapore saw 63.2% year-over-year growth, and the EV market share jumped 32.4% → 41.0%

#4.5 Note, that I also learned 🇯🇴 Jordan reportedly has 55% EV market share so far this year, but I wasn't able to surface more specific data on the sales, so it's left out of the running from now.

#5: 🇲🇴 Macau with 37.6% EV market share. Albeit a small auto market, Macau saw 2,218 EV sales in H1 2025, growing 22.3% year over year. Together with the nearly-neighbor Hong Kong, the region's BEV uptake is very strong.

#6: 🇸🇪 Sweden with 35.2% EV market share. 49,667 EVs sold in Sweden in Jan-June 2025, growing +18.25% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 31.75% to 35.2%.

More than every third car sold in Sweden is now fully electric.

Also, did you notice how it is somehow the colder parts of Europe that are claiming the largest EV adoption? So much for EVs not working in cold! EV sales in Europe up north are directly proving the myth busted.

#6.5: 🇻🇳 Vietnam with 35.1% EV market share. While we don't have exact BEV sales numbers to grab, so we can't put it in our official data, the ICCT reports Vietnam having achieved a 35.1% EV market share in H1 2025! That's up significantly from ~22% share in 2024. There are virtually no PHEV sales in the country to muddy the waters of the reporting.

The rise to such a high share was driven by growing sales by VinFast, a domestic all-electric manufacturer that reportedly delivered 67.6k EVs there in H1 2025, and fiscal incentives for EV uptake, such as registration fee exemptions and special consumption tax rates for domestically produced electric passenger cars through 2027.

#7: 🇳🇱 The Netherlands with 35.0% EV market share. 63,940 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +6.1% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 31.2% to 35.0%.

The Netherlands, one of the ‘original’ EV growth markets in Europe, continues on its path among the top, more than every third car sold fully electric.

#8: 🇫🇮 Finland with 34.2% EV market share. With 12,726 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +20.4% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 27.0% to 34.2%.

Finland did it again.

After showing the largest jump in EV market share in 2023 when it went from 17.8% → 33.75%, then experiencing a drop back to 29.3% last year, the country is back in the EV growth phase. The 7% jump in the EV market share means every third new car hitting the road in Finland is now fully electric.

#9: 🇧🇪 Belgium with 32.8% EV market share. The market we covered as the 8th-largest in terms of units in the world, Belgium, made it to the 9th position in terms of EV market share globally:76,980 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025 made the market share rise from 24.45% to 32.8%.

#10: 🇨🇳 China with 30.8% EV market share. Although it is on the 10th position here, this one makes arguably the largest impact on the world:

China's 3,349,808 BEV sales in H1 2025 means the market grew 43.7% year-over-year and China reached a 30.8% EV market share!

This means nearly every third car sold in China is fully electric as we speak.

Can you imagine, there are now ten markets (well, 12, really) globally at over 30% BEV market share already.

But the EV adoption rate has more surprises in store. Now let's take a look at those between 20-30% ↓

#13: 🇮🇸 Iceland with 28.95% EV market share. Iceland, as we covered in our growers' section, suffered under the ICE-favoring road tax surcharges starting in 2024. Before that, in 2023, the country had already achieved a 50% EV share.

With the 138% YoY growth rate this year, it looks like it might be turning back to EVland soon enough.

#14: 🇱🇺 Luxembourg with 26.0% EV market share. 6,559 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +1.9% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 25.6% to 26.0%.

While this year has been mostly stagnant so far, Luxembourg's recent years that got it here have seen a significant EV market run:15.2% (2022) → 22.5% (2023) → 27.4% (2024)

#15: 🇲🇹 Malta with 25.65% EV market share. 805 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, -35.0% year-over-year. The EV market share fell from 29.9% to 25.65%.

Malta’s strong decline in EV units is significant, but it should be considered that this comes after almost doubling sales in 2024, and the little island country went from already significant 20.3% → 37.7% market share in just one year.

Now, we will see if the drop continues or will turn back to mimic last year’s success.

#16: 🇦🇹 Austria 22.0%. 31,534 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +42,2% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 16.4% to 22.0%.

Austria also finds EV growth after a slow 2024, and achieved a significant +5.6% EV market share jump that took it even further than its peer, Switzerland (at 20.5%), which has historically been a bit ahead in adoption.

#17: 🇬🇧 United Kingdom with 21.6% EV market share. We already talked of UK and it’s 224,841 EV sales in H1 2025, but its EV market share is especially significant considering that we are dealing with a large car market here. Every fifth car now sold in the UK is fully electric!

#18: 🇨🇭 Switzerland with 20.5% EV market share. There were 23,203 EVs sold in Jan-June 2025, growing +8,5% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 17,6% in H1 2024 to 20,5% in H1 2025.

After a slight down year in 2024, Switzerland is now back at its 20%-something EV market share that it had in 2023.

#19: 🇵🇹 Portugal with 20.2% EV market share. 25,017 EVs sold in Portugal in Jan-June 2025, growing +30,2% year-over-year. The EV market share rose from 16,5% to 20,2%.

Very solid growth from Portugal so far this year, continuing on an EV path they have been on for years now. Every fifth car sold in Portugal is now fully electric!

The EV uptake should be boosted even further by the recent regulation change allowing the charging industry to develop more freely. Tesla and other charging operators have already started increasing the nationwide charging network significantly.

This wraps up the countries above 20% in EV adoption.

All these 19 (if taking the Vietnam and Jordan into account) had more than every fifth car sold fully electric in the first half of 2025!

#20 🇹🇭 Thailand: 57,327 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 52.09% year-over-year and reaching a 18.94% EV market share.

Thailand is also interesting to watch due to its focus on EV manufacturing in the country. Thailand’s BEV passenger car production increased 380% year-over-year passenger cars, with 23,798 domestically produced units. Fleet-wise, as of 30th June ‘25, I managed to find there are 218,274 BEV cars on the Thai roads. Also 2,848 BEV buses and 1,015 BEV trucks

#21 California (18.71% market share, worth a mention outside US)

#22 🇺🇦 Ukraine: 30,763 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing by 26.1% YoY and now at 18.00% EV market share. In our Ukraine stats, unlike anywhere else, we’re taking the imported vehicles into account since that’s what they report.

#23 🇨🇷 Costa Rica: 6,637 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 19.7% year-over-year and reaching a 17.93% EV market share.

#28 🇮🇪 Ireland: 13,629 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 26.9% YoY and reaching a 16.67% EV market share.After a significant drop in 2024, Ireland is back on track with its EV transition.

#29 🇮🇱 Israel: 26,159 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing by -33.3% compared to H1 2024, and ending up at a 16.40% EV market share. The top 3: BYD 4,328, XPeng 4,328, Geely 1800.

#30 🇺🇾 Uruguay (15% EV market share);
#31 Indonesia (12.5%);
#32 South Korea (11.2%);

#33 Slovenia (9.05%, we covered it in the top growth section)

#34 🇨🇾 Cyprus: 735 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 48.2% YoY and reaching 8.94% EV market share. Cyprus continues to show strength, as after more than doubling in 2023 (115.9%), it gained another 51.5% in 2024 and now +48.15% in the first half of this year. The EV market share has moved from 5.35% in 2023 to 8.9% in H1 2025.

#35 🇭🇺 Hungary: 5,219 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing by 12.2% YoY and reaching 7.90% EV market share. Hungary is one of the countries where EV sales growth has been steady, even in the years when most European countries experienced a downturn.

#36 Spain (7.58% EV market share)

#37 🇦🇺 Australia: 47,145 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing -6.1% from H1 2024 and reaching 7.56% EV market share. Model Y was the best-selling passenger vehicle in 🇦🇺 for the month of September

#38 United States (7.30% EV market share)

#39 🇪🇪 Estonia: 444 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing -31.6% YoY and reaching 7.21% EV market share. Notable here is the drop in EV sales by units, 31.6% is quite a significant one in that, but the EV market share actually rose for Estonia, from 6.4% to 7.2%. Here, the introduction of the car tax has created some distortions in the market that should be smoothed out along the way.

#40 Colombia (7% EV market share, but was best in world in YoY growth)

#41 🇱🇻 Latvia: 743 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing by 26.8% YoY and reaching 6.61% EV market share. Latvia showed solid unit growth with 26.8%, but the rest of the car market actually grew more year over year, leading EV share to drop slightly.

#42 🇹🇼 Taiwan 12,748 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing in sales by -30.0% and reaching 6.41% EV market share. Led by Tesla with 4,689 units, followed by local automaker Luxgen with 1,930 units, BMW 1,764 units, and Mercedes with 1,195 units.

#43 🇳🇿 New Zealand: 3,797 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 61.9% and reaching 6.24% EV market share.

#44 🇲🇽 Mexico: 19,481 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 59.9% and reaching 6.00% market share.

#45 🇱🇹 Lithuania: 1,205 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 41.6% YoY and reaching 5.80% market share for EVs.

Lithuania’s situation looks great at first, with a significant 41.6% growth in sales, but looking closer, it seems that the EV sales growth just matched the overall car sales growth, as the EV market share barely moved in the first half of 2025, staying at 5.80%. However, this is still a welcome result after a 7.6% to 5.9% drop in EV share in 2024.

#46 🇨🇦 Canada: 55,903 EVs registered in first half of 2025, decreasing -33.7% from last year and ending up with 5.77% EV market share.

#47 🇬🇷 Greece: 4,265 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 27.7% and reaching 5.46% EV share. Greece has a steady upward trend in EV sales as well, with a huge 126% growth in EV sales in 2023, followed by a 36.5% growth in 2024 and solid growth so far this year.

#48 Czechia (5.6% EV market share)

#49 🇮🇹 Italy: 44,726 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 28.0% in a year and reaching 5.23% EV market share. Italy is the third-largest car market in Europe, but tenth in EV sales in Europe, so the EV growth there is a welcome sight, especially after remarkably flat EV sales in 2024 compared to the year before.

#50 🇵🇱 Poland: 14,256 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 60.9% YoY and reaching 5.00% EV market share.

#51 🇷🇴 Romania: 3,201 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing by -44.3% and reaching 4.94% EV market share.

#52 🇧🇬 Bulgaria: 1,135 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 31.5% YoY and reaching 4.71% EV market share.After a strong +119% EV growth year in 2023, Bulgaria took a step back in 2024 with 8% less EV sales. This year, it seems to be making up for it and more, with 31.5% growth for the first part of the year.

#53 Slovakia (4.45% EV market share)

#54 🇲🇾 Malaysia: 17,143 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 60.8% YoY and reaching 4.32% EV market share

#55 India (3.66% EV market share), #56 Ecuador (3.0%)

#57 🇧🇷 Brazil: 33,105 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 6.1% YoY and reaching 2.92% EV market share.

Another great part of Brazil is that the electricity generation from hydro is at 65% of the energy mix, and wind & solar have also skyrocketed to 25% as of 2025 (Ember data).

#58 🇨🇱 Chile: 2,537 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 46.2% YoY, reaching 1.80% EV market share

#59 🇯🇵 Japan: 26,767 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing -8.6% YoY and reaching 1.30% EV market share. The number of BEV models available in Japan's car market has grown significantly, from just 10 models in 2019 to 61 models by 2025 (per JATO). However, only 10 of these are from Japanese brands, while the remaining 51 are foreign brands.

#60 Peru (1% EV market share)

#61 🇭🇷 Croatia: 396 EVs sold in H1 2025, with sales decreasing -50.0% and ending up at 0.94% EV market share. Croatia is currently the absolute last in EV sales in Europe, both in EV units sold, with its largest decline year-over-year in Europe, and the lowest EV market share across all countries.

However, to end this on a high note, a new €21.2 million subsidy program for zero-emission vehicles was announced for Croatia just in mid-August, which might help the market along.

#62 🇷🇺 Russia: 4,371 EVs sold in H1 2025, reaching a 0.80% EV market share. Hard to get exact data out of Russia, so we don’t know the YoY growth status here.

#63 🇿🇦 South Africa: 570 EVs sold in H1 2025, decreasing -23.9% and EV market share is 0.33%. The real EV number might be somewhat larger, as BYD does not report its stats to the Naamsa auto body.

... and then there were the two I didn't find the exact EV market share for:

#? 🇵🇦 Panama: 440 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 51.7% YoY.

#? 🇸🇻 El Salvador: 113 EVs sold in H1 2025, growing 88.3% year over year.

And I do hope we managed to set some of it free today.

This is it. All 65 markets I found info for, this year, covered. I hope this report was skimmable yet deep enough for you to get you interested in what’s really going on in the EV world.
