EVWire brief: The Tesla Diner is now open: 10MW on-site, 80 V4 charging posts, 230 kW of solar canopies, and a futuretro dining experience. The site is open 24/7 for all EVs. You can order your food ahead of time right from your Tesla's screen, or at the spot while watching movies on the two 66-foot LED screens.

First, it held a “soft opening” for First Responders at the Tesla Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard on Saturday, 20th of July.

📍 7001 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood

You can explore what Tesla has said about the Diner itself at their site: tesla.com/tesla-diner.

The site has a 80-stall V4 Supercharger hub (open to all NACS-compatible EVs), making it the largest urban Supercharging station in the world. There is also 230kW of solar canopies and 10MW power on-site.

It has drive-in‑style dining with 250 seats in two stories (the second story outside is called Skypad), roller‑skating servers, and two 66-foot LED movie screens.

However, it seems the rollerskating servers won’t be there for long:

You can see the special Tesla Diner menu on their website here, or also on your Tesla even if you’re not there — just find the Tesla Diner Supercharger on your Tesla navigation and click view menu.

Did I mention you can order your food ahead of time straight from your Tesla? Kind of obvious it would do that, isn’t it.

Now can we just pause for a second and think of the level of integration we’ve reached here.

Okay, let’s continue.

The ingredients for the food are all from local farms. Elon says “correct” when asked “No seed oils? Uses beef tallow? No bad chemicals?”

They celebrated the First Responders with this pre-launch event, here’s a minute-long video of the event by Tesla Club SoCal, and a video from Tesla itself. And here’s another, 9-minute video by Wil from FthePump, including a brief chat with Franz.

the soft launch event on Sunday

And on the public opening day, Franz opened the doors at exactly 4:20 (of course), see it on video here:

Audio of movies/videos playing on both screens will sync & play from the speakers inside your Tesla. The sandwiches and burgers are served in a little paper Cybertruck box.

And naturally, Optimus is serving the popcorn there.
Here’s a video of a full interaction with an Optimus there — likely still teleoperated or doing preprogrammed stuff, but still impressive handling.

The bathroom makes it feel like you’re in a Dragon capsule:

A Tesla Diner app appears in your Tesla, also in the rear screen, once you connect to the Diner's WiFi.

The Diner itself is public but there seems to be an entry code you’ll find at the Tesla Diner Supercharger info on the Tesla app. Perhaps so random fossil cars wouldn’t come and park? And yes, the Supercharger now shows up in your Tesla app.

Here’s a video showing how your car will be able to watch the videos being played on the big screens also in your vehicle screen. The demo vehicles they had on display had an added app under the Tesla Theatre app:

Tesla Diner also comes with its own set of exclusive merch:

Here are some of the exclusive ones (find prices and others offered here):

Notice something? Sweets?

Yep, Tesla is finally a candy company! I’ve told you about Tesla trademarking some candy names before, like Dog Mode Chill, Mango Bolt, Cyberberry. These are now actual Supercharged Gummies! Here’s Ryan from @klwtts tasting them on video.

This whole candy thing actually predates back to 2018, so I thought I’d resurface it for you:

What’s next? Will Tesla replicate its Tesla Diner also elsewhere? If it does well, Elon says they will:

Elon even answered “Ok” to someone asking to one to be made at Starbase, Texas.

We’ll finish the Tesla Diner reporting off with another very Tesla thing to do — a lightshow at the Diner with 15 Cybertrucks!
