Denmark approves Tesla FSD Supervised, 4th in Europe

EVwire brief: Tesla has received regulatory approval to deploy FSD Supervised in Denmark, making it the fourth European country to authorize the system after the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Estonia.

Tesla Europe confirmed the approval on X, and the company says the rollout to customer vehicles will begin soon.

Denmark approval came through recognition of the Dutch type approval first issued by the Netherlands' RDW in April. Lithuania and Estonia also took this route to approve FSD Supervised for their local roads. The Danish Transport Authority explained why it approved FSD Supervised in a media release:

❝

“The Danish Road Traffic Authority has reviewed extensive technical documentation on FSD Supervised, including the documentation that forms the basis for the Dutch provisional approval of the system.

“After a thorough review and assessment of the technical documentation, the Danish Road Traffic Authority agrees with the RDW's assessment that the system will contribute positively to road safety by assisting the driver while driving. The Danish Road Traffic Authority therefore accepts the provisional type approval of FSD Supervised.”

Denmark becomes the fourth European market where Tesla owners can use FSD Supervised

The Danish Transport Authority also acknowledged FSD Supervised’s safety benefits in its approval, as highlighted by the RDW:

❝

“The RDW, the Dutch type approval authority, has assessed that Tesla's FSD Supervised contributes to increasing road safety by assisting the driver while driving. Correct use of the system therefore constitutes support for the driver, and should be seen as a supplement to the driver's own observations and decisions in relation to the current traffic.”

Lithuania followed the Netherlands’ FSD Supervised approval on May 20th

Context:

FSD Supervised’s European approvals have been coming in quick succession. The Netherlands cleared the system in April 2026, Lithuania followed on May 20, and Estonia signed off on May 29, just nine days later. Denmark now lands less than two weeks after that.

Denmark also arrives days after Tesla published its first safety statistics for FSD Supervised in the Netherlands. Tesla's data recorded three collisions across 7.0 million km (4.35 million miles) of non-highway driving, which the company says is 1.6x safer than manual driving on the same roads, and zero collisions over 16.6 million km (10.31 million miles) on highways.

As per the Danish Transport Authority, FSD Supervised remains classified as an SAE Level 2 driver-assistance system in Europe. Drivers stay legally responsible for the vehicle at all times and must be ready to intervene, with driver-monitoring sensors enforcing engagement.
