EVwire brief: Tesla registrations climbed across Northern Europe in October, with the automaker posting a 248% jump in Sweden, a 131% gain in Norway and a 34% rise in Denmark from a year earlier.
Norway was the standout. Tesla logged its best October on record there and finished the month as the country's best-selling car brand with a 9.8% market share, as per OFV data. Denmark was a different story, with Tesla holding a 0.73% share for the month, behind BYD, Leapmotor, Xpeng and MG, which each took between 1.6% and 5.5% of the market.

October's triple-digit gains are partly a product of how weak Tesla's Nordic numbers were a year ago. In October 2025, Tesla registrations fell 89% in Sweden to just 133 cars, dropped 86% in Denmark and slid 50% in Norway, where Tesla registered 671 vehicles for a 6% share of an 11,138-car market, as per the OFV.
Industry analyst Felipe Munoz, who runs the Car Industry Analysis platform, told Reuters that the region's appetite for efficient EVs is working in favor of both Tesla and its Chinese rivals:
"Northern Europe is quite open to the new players as long as they are efficient EVs. That's what allowed Tesla to get to a leading position and it's what is allowing the Chinese to gain ground fast."

Context:
Tesla's October gains came against a softer year-ago base, with higher fuel prices, government incentives and steadily growing EV demand also helping the rebound. Chinese automakers are scaling up in the same markets, however. In Norway, Chinese brands accounted for 22.5% of new passenger car registrations in October, their highest monthly share on record.
Tesla's European lineup still centers on two models, the Model 3 and Model Y, while several of its rivals offer broader ranges. Tesla said in October that it ended the third quarter with its largest passenger vehicle order backlog in four years.
