EVwire brief: Walmart just hit 100 EV fast-charging sites across the US, cutting the ribbon on its latest at a Supercenter in Monument, Colorado, about 20 miles north of Colorado Springs.
The network now stretches across 20 states, with each location running 8 to 16 stalls at up to 400 kW on both CCS and NACS connectors. Walmart+ members get discounted rates.
Adam Happel, who runs Walmart's retail EV charging operation, said the network is built around making charging feel routine:
When a customer pulls into a Walmart to charge, we want the experience to feel as reliable and effortless as the rest of their shopping trip. We're proud to reach 100 sites, but our focus remains on building a network customers can count on every time they charge with us.

Shayne Wahlmeier, Walmart's SVP of energy, framed the 100-site mark as a stepping stone:
By expanding EV fast charging at Walmart locations across the country, we're giving drivers a dependable way to charge while they're in the store. Reaching 100 sites is an important milestone, and our broad footprint positions us to make EV charging more accessible for communities while expanding the ways we serve our customers.
Brandt Hastings, Walmart's SVP of services, highlighted the Colorado site on LinkedIn. The state has more than 200,000 registered EVs and "the fastest adoption curve in the country," Hastings noted.

Context:
The pace is real. Walmart went from zero to 100 sites in roughly 18 months. That makes it the second-largest deployer of DC fast-charging in the United States, behind only Tesla.
Paren's Q2 2026 data backs it up. Walmart added 368 new ports in Q2 alone, capturing 8.4% of all new deployments during the quarter. Its all-time total sits at 612 ports, still under 1% of the national network, but the trajectory is steep.
The company has said it plans to bring charging to thousands of stores by 2030. Walmart operates more than 5,200 locations in the US, and roughly 90% of Americans live within 10 miles of one. If even a fraction of those stores get chargers, the coverage math changes fast.
