EVwire brief: The Canadian government is investing C$10.9 million (US$7.8 million) across 22 projects aimed at expanding the country's EV charging network while increasing public awareness of electric vehicles.
Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin announced that nearly C$9 million (US$6.4 million) will fund nine infrastructure projects expected to deliver almost 400 new public charging stations nationwide. The remaining funding, about C$2 million (US$1.4 million), will support 13 education and outreach initiatives designed to improve public confidence in zero-emission vehicles.

Hydro-Québec will receive the largest share of the infrastructure funding, with C$5 million (US$3.5 million) allocated to install approximately 100 new DC fast chargers across its Le Circuit électrique network. Additional funding will also support charging network expansions by Ivy Charging Network and QuantumEV.
Beyond charging infrastructure, the government is backing programs intended to increase EV awareness and improve access to reliable information. Supported initiatives include emergency responder training, public education campaigns, and test-drive events in rural and Indigenous communities.
The C$9 million infrastructure tranche is set to add close to 400 new public charging points across Canada.
A portion of the funding also targets one of Canada's biggest charging challenges: multi-unit residential buildings. The Canadian Charging Infrastructure Council will receive C$200,000 (US$142,000) to help remove barriers to charger installations in apartment and condominium buildings, while the Canadian Parking Association will receive an additional C$200,000 to develop practical guidance for parking owners and operators planning charging infrastructure.
Ivy Charging Network is among the providers funded to expand charging in Ontario and other provinces.

According to the Canadian government, nearly one-third of Canadian families live in multi-unit residential buildings, where access to home charging remains more limited than for single-family homes. The latest funding is intended to support both physical charging infrastructure and practical resources that can simplify charger installations in shared residential parking areas.
