EVwire brief: Geely Auto is officially coming to Canada, with the Chinese automaker setting up local operations ahead of its first vehicles hitting the Canadian market in 2027. Geely already has a Canadian team in place, and it is now building out a retail and service network with experienced local partners.
This means that Canadian car buyers will have to wait a bit longer for the specifics. Geely said details on its Canadian lineup, retail and service locations, pricing and availability will be shared closer to launch, with its new geely.ca website serving as the hub for updates.

Bryan Wu, Geely Auto Canada's managing director, said the company is in Canada for the long haul:
"Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto's international growth. We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely. We know that trust is earned over time, and we are committed to earning it here."
Geely is entering Canada with plenty of scale behind it. Geely Auto Group sold more than 3.02 million vehicles worldwide in 2025, with nearly 1.69 million of those being new energy vehicles (NEVs), and its cars are currently on the road in more than 100 countries and regions.

Context:
The announcement makes official what Geely teased earlier this month, when it launched its Canadian website saying it was "coming to Canada" with a dealer network planned for key markets.
Several Chinese automakers have been moving into Canada since the country opened its doors to Chinese-built EVs with an initial quota of 49,000 vehicles per year. BYD is aiming for 20 branded Canadian dealerships, and Dongfeng showed off six EV models in Montreal in July.
