EVwire brief: Geely Auto has launched a Canadian website, announcing that the Chinese automaker is "coming to Canada" with a growing dealer network planned for key markets across the country.
Like BYD's Canadian site before it, Geely Canada’s website is more of a brand introduction. There's no Canadian lineup, pricing or ordering system yet. Geely only describes its incoming vehicles as a "new generation of electrified vehicles," and visitors who want to reach the company are pointed to a Geely Auto Canada email address and its social channels.
Our Canadian journey is coming soon, with a growing dealer network planned for key markets across the country.

Most of the site is a primer on Geely itself. Founded in 1997 in Hangzhou, Geely Auto Group is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, owns Lynk & Co and Zeekr, and partners with Malaysian automaker PROTON. The site also highlights Geely Holding's 15 straight years on the Fortune Global 500 and more than 20 million cumulative global sales by the end of 2025.

A brand timeline runs from Geely's founding by Li Shufu in 1986 and its 2010 acquisition of Volvo Cars up to 2025, when the Geely E5 earned a Red Dot Design Award and a five-star Euro NCAP rating, making it the only current model the site names. Rounding things out are Geely's R&D and design centres across China, Sweden, the UK, Germany and Italy, plus a 5G-connected factory that Geely says can build a car every two minutes.

Context:
Geely is the latest Chinese automaker to lay groundwork in Canada since the country decided to let Chinese-built EVs in, starting with 49,000 per year. BYD has been targeting 20 branded Canadian dealerships, while Dongfeng previewed six EV models in Montreal in July, with two of them priced under C$35,000 (about US$25,500).
Back home, Geely has been busy on the charging front. In September, it debuted a Smart Charging system that hits 2.25 MW and can take an EV to 70% in 4.5 minutes. The company also took a 30% stake in NIO Power as part of a charging and battery-swapping deal.
