HiON opens Greenwood Village Supercharger, backed by a novel franchise plan

EVwire brief: Tesla has added a new Supercharger for Business site in Greenwood Village, Colorado, hosted by HiON EV Charging in the Denver Tech Center. The site has four V4 stalls rated up to 325 kW, supports both NACS and CCS EVs through a built-in adapter, and runs 24/7.

We've also discovered that HiON has built a franchise model on top of Tesla Superchargers, targeting 1,000 locations and 4,000+ ports over the next five years (though it's unclear if this specific site falls under that plan).

HiON describes itself as an electric vehicle charging station owner-operator committed to providing low-to-no capex turnkey charging solutions. The company deals with all the permitting, construction, upgrades and commissioning for the Supercharger sites. It also maintains the charging stations and performs repairs and upgrades for the life of the system as necessary.

Perhaps most interesting is HiON’s franchise model. The company is targeting roughly $500 million in capital raised through franchise area developers, with a goal of 1,000 locations and more than 4,000 Tesla Supercharger ports over the next five years.

The pitch leans on the simplicity of the business: HiON supplies the hardware, site-selection data, and network operations, while franchisees provide the real estate and keep 100% of profits from on-site amenities like food and retail.

Context:

HiON has previously worked with the Colorado Energy Office, KeyBank, and Xcel Energy on charging projects across the Denver area, including earlier sites in Idaho Springs and Denver itself.

This site joins Tesla's growing Supercharger for Business program, the same setup PPR Energy Solutions and Little General have used for their own third-party sites in New York and Missouri.

The site supports even non-Tesla EVs.
