EVwire brief: Lucid and Bolt are teaming up to develop and deploy autonomous mobility across Europe, with Bolt aiming to put at least 25,000 fully autonomous Lucid vehicles on the road across multiple European cities and countries.
The vehicles will be built on Lucid's upcoming Midsize platform and equipped with NVIDIA's Hyperion autonomous-driving hardware, targeting SAE Level 4 autonomy. Bolt frames the deal as a step toward its own goal of 100,000 autonomous vehicles running on its platform by 2035.
In a response to EVwire on LinkedIn, Charlotte Eisner, Head of Commercialization and Strategic Partnerships at Bolt, described Lucid’s midsize car as a “very good vehicle platform.” This opens the doors to autonomous Lucid Cosmos vehicles, which are very exciting in their own right.
Eisner also announced the deal in a post on LinkedIn:
Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions, Bolt’s dedicated self-driving unit, will help define vehicle requirements, software, safety, and rider-experience parameters, while also building fleet infrastructure and operating systems for the service. On Lucid's side, the work falls to the newly created Lucid Technologies, a unit formed to bring the company's AI, driver-assistance, autonomy, and other digital efforts under one roof.

Lucid CEO Silvio Napoli said the partnership gives the company a way to extend its vehicle technology into shared autonomous mobility:

Bolt founder and CEO Markus Villig highlighted that the autonomous Lucid vehicles will be co-designed and optimized for NVIDIA’s Hyperion.

Context:
This is Bolt's second publicly announced robotaxi manufacturing partner. The company signed with Pony.ai in late 2025 to bring robotaxis to Europe, and the Lucid deal adds a second vehicle-and-software source rather than replacing that arrangement.
Lucid, for its part, already supplies vehicles for Uber and Nuro's robotaxi service in the U.S., which recently picked Houston as its second market after San Francisco. The Bolt arrangement is a different kind of deal. Rather than just supplying vehicles into someone else's robotaxi network, Lucid and Bolt say they'll co-design the vehicle and software together, and Bolt intends to own and operate the resulting fleet itself.
