Notes from the InterCharge Network Conference & the EV Geek awards | Guest Article

The true EV charging geek gathering of 2026.

Notes from the InterCharge Network Conference & the EV Geek awards | Guest Article

EVwire brief: The EVwire team wasn’t able to attend the icnc2026 conference this year on Sept 1st-3rd, which is the largest gathering in Europe for, well, EV charging geeks.

Lucky for us, our friend Martin Raadik, the CEO of Evlyn (an AI customer support platform for EV charging), did and agreed to create a recap for us.
The rest of this article is in Martin’s own words and images:

The InterCharge Network Conference was held at the legendary Tempelhof Airport, which isn't just a decommissioned Nazi-era terminal turned events space - it also hosts Formula E competitions since 2015. This is clearly seen on Google Satellite view:

Here is what stood out from the industry-leading event:

❝

Get big, get niche, or get out. Most CPOs are either looking to:
Sell their network,
Buy competitors, or
Become super efficient in their niche.

— Orlin Radev, CEO and co-founder of AMPECO

Ryan Fisher, from BloombergNEF, encouraged policymakers to make a decision:
Are you going to cut EV incentives or keep them? The industry needs certainty!

Martin Weissbart from Roland Berger GmbH: Regardless of the conservatism, the EV charging network is not stalling; it's still growing. Growth is led by ultra-fast charging:

CEO of Enera, Nicholas Marquardt, reminded us that we have come a long way in making EV charging reliable, but still 30% of charging sessions fail.

Strategy& / PwC Partner, Milos Bartosek, highlighted that utilization has become an increasingly defining metric. And this metric varies a lot across the charger fleets:

LinkedIn creator, Syed Haseeb Hassan, made a point that reaching your audience on LinkedIn keeps getting harder. It's common to see impression numbers drop 50%.

AuthoredUp's analysis backs this up: In February 2026, the top 5% of profiles had lost half their median impressions - from 13,711 down to 6,868 per post - while the platform-wide median held steady at around 860. Reach hasn't vanished. It's been redistributed.

ICNC EV Geek awards (unofficial)

I made this one up myself, purely for fun, to hand to a market player that makes no effort in hiding the fact that they are EV geeks.

3rd place: Siemens, who hid a small cocktail bar inside their 400kW DC charger:

2nd place: DeftPower, who served complimentary coffee out of an old-school electric airport trolley:

1st Place: TandemDrive, who chartered a fully electric bus of EV enthusiasts from the Netherlands to Berlin just to get to the conference together. That's not a commute, that's a pilgrimage. Congrats to TandemDrive - worthy winners:

About the Author: Martin Raadik is the CEO of Evlyn, an AI customer support platform for EV charging.

And no, this isn’t some kind of hidden advertising post, we meant it when we said that Martin is our friend who visited icnc26 and was happy to report back. Thanks, Martin!
