EVwire brief: Tesla has filed plans for what could become one of the largest Supercharger stations ever proposed: a 124-stall V4 Supercharger in San Francisco. If approved, the project would transform an industrial lot at 75 Waterloo Street into a massive fast-charging hub that appears designed for throughput above all else.
The proposed site includes 124 V4 Supercharger stalls, 14 folding power supply units (PSUs), several Supercharger cabinets, four switchboards, multiple transformers, new parking lot lighting, extensive electrical infrastructure, and a small support building. EV community researcher MarcoRPi1, who first spotted the filings, shared the plans on X, with Sawyer Merritt later highlighting the project to a broader audience.
The permit drawings also offer an intriguing look at the site's design philosophy. Rather than featuring lounges, retail space or extensive customer amenities, the plans show a compact utility building containing two restrooms, a small vending vestibule, janitor and storage rooms, and electrical equipment.
That stripped-down layout has led many members of the EV community to speculate that the site could eventually support Tesla's Robotaxi network, where vehicles would primarily charge between autonomous trips rather than serve as a traditional destination for drivers. That said, Tesla has not indicated that this is the project's intended purpose, and the permit filings make no reference to Robotaxi or Cybercab operations.

Context:
The proposal comes as Tesla's Supercharger technology continues expanding beyond Tesla-owned locations. Earlier this month, EVgo announced plans to deploy Tesla V4 Superchargers through Tesla's Supercharger for Business program, marking one of the largest third-party rollouts of Tesla's charging technology to date.
As more companies adopt Tesla's charging hardware, V4 Superchargers are expected to become increasingly common across North America. Large sites like the proposed 124-stall station also reflect Tesla's continued push to build charging infrastructure capable of supporting a rapidly growing EV fleet.
