EVwire brief: Tesla is building a dedicated robotaxi charging and carwash facility in south Austin that includes plans for 80 wireless chargers for the Cybercab.
The project is planned at 405 E. St. Elmo Road, across from Tesla’s St. Elmo service center. The current permit documents show 48 V4 Supercharger stalls and 12 V3.5 Supercharger cabinets, while a second phase calls for two additional V4 charging cabinets capable of supporting 80 wireless chargers.
The filings were spotted by longtime Tesla Supercharger tracker MarcoRPi1, who noted that the site is being developed specifically as a Robotaxi fleet charging hub.

The permit, filed under the project name "ST ELMO PARKING AND CHARGING" (TRT #20447), lists Tesla, Inc. as the tenant and ArcVision Inc. as the architect. The service description explicitly references "robocar" operations, a notable detail given that Tesla's Cybercab ride-hailing service in Austin is expected to launch as soon as this month.

The plans also show the project's rather utilitarian approach. There is no elaborate customer lounge or retail building. The site is primarily a parking and charging facility, with the supporting electrical equipment, security infrastructure, and circulation improvements needed to keep Robotaxis moving.

The site plan itself does not explicitly say that the 80 wireless chargers are for Cybercabs, and Tesla has not publicly announced the facility as a Cybercab charging hub. Still, the timing and design are difficult to ignore, especially since the Cybercab is the only Tesla vehicle that is expected to feature wireless charging as of writing.
Context:
The wireless charging component is the standout detail here. Tesla's recently published patents describe the technology behind the Cybercab's charging pad: a dual-voltage design supporting both 400V and 800V packs, and a dense sensor array with hundreds of bimetallic thermocouples for foreign-object detection. Eighty wireless stalls at a single site would be the first known large-scale deployment of this system.
The site also fits a pattern. Tesla recently filed plans for a 124-stall V4 Supercharger in San Francisco with similarly stripped-down amenities: two bathrooms, no lounge, no retail space. That filing prompted speculation that the site was designed for fleet vehicles rather than retail customers.
