EVwire brief: Tesla confirmed on Thursday that it will increase Giga Berlin’s output by another 20%, to 7,500 Model Ys per week from October, and hire 1,000 more employees to do it.
Plant manufacturing director Andre Thierig spelled out the new target on LinkedIn and X. Tesla had already raised its weekly goal to 6,200 units from July, so Grünheide is now climbing from roughly 5,000 cars a week toward 7,500.
Here's Giga Berlin manufacturing director Andre Thierig's announcement on LinkedIn:
Demand is driving the ramp. Tesla's Model Y registrations in Germany have seen a dramatic rise compared to last year’s figures, and the company has logged similar jumps across the European markets that Grünheide supplies.
Context:
Giga Berlin’s hires cap three expansion announcements in three months. Tesla flagged 1,000 vehicle-side jobs in April, added a $250 million battery-cell investment in May, and confirmed the latest 1,000 today.

Giga Berlin will be ramping its output to 6200 vehicles per week next month
By Tesla's own count, the three moves add up to 3,500 new jobs across car and battery work, with the battery line targeting 18 GWh of 4680 capacity from 2027.
Tesla is already Brandenburg's largest private employer, at around 11,000 people. State Minister-President Dietmar Woidke shared his insights about Giga Berlin’s recent update:
“Contrary to the general trend in the automotive industry, the company is investing in the location and creating a large number of additional jobs in Brandenburg. Tesla in Brandenburg is and will remain a success story.”
