Tesla Model Y L Europe release imminent, as website source code shows

EVwire brief: The Tesla Model Y L’s European release appears to be imminent. References to the six-seat SUV were found buried in the source code of Tesla's Norwegian configurator, alongside a CDN-hosted image of the vehicle in Stealth Gray.

Both a "Model Y L" text string and a product image were sitting inside the configurator's JavaScript bundle. The Model Y L is not yet listed as a buyable option on any European Tesla website as of writing.

The find was shared by William Jarbeaux on X.

Tesla received EU type approval for the vehicle earlier this year. The Model Y L first went on sale in China in August 2025 and launched in the United States last month. No European release date or pricing has been officially announced.

With the vehicle’s EU type approval secured and references now found in the source code of the Model Y configurator, it does appear that the European release of the Model Y L might be at hand.

The Model Y L is referenced in the source code of Tesla Norway’s Model Y configurator page.

Context:

The Model Y L stretches the standard Model Y's wheelbase by about 150 mm (~5.9 inches) to fit a genuine third row in a 2-2-2 captain's-chair layout. The European version carries an 88.2 kWh battery rated for up to 681 km (~423 miles) of WLTP range.

Reviewers who have driven the vehicle have been positive. Edmunds said the third row is genuinely usable, noting a tester just under six feet tall sat comfortably. The Driven called it "the plushest and most versatile Tesla yet." The vehicle also introduces V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability, a first for Tesla.

EVwire has been tracking the Model Y L's movement toward broader production, including sightings of apparent Model Y L bodies at Giga Texas earlier this year.
