EVwire brief: Tesla has postponed its planned Roadster event after severe weather was forecast for the outdoor event. The company said it had been monitoring conditions with local meteorologists before deciding to reschedule.
The new event date is October 15, with Tesla saying additional details will follow.

The announcement comes shortly after Tesla teased the Roadster at the end of its Semi rollout event. Tesla VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy and Semi Program Lead Dan Priestley closed the presentation by teasing a Roadster appearance the following week.
Eagle-eyed EV fans noted that the Roadster teaser seemed to confirm that the vehicle has been redesigned to follow Tesla’s current “Cyber” design language, with a front light bar and a radically designed spoiler.

Context:
The new Roadster has been nine years in the making. Tesla first revealed it in 2017 with a promised 1.9-second 0-60 mph time, though it has experienced numerous delays. In May, Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen and Moravy confirmed that the car will be built in Texas, after Elon Musk had initially floated building it alongside the Model S and Model X at the Fremont factory.
The SpaceX connection has been part of the Roadster story for years, with Musk saying an optional cold-gas thruster package could push the car's 0-60 mph time below one second. In August, Reuters reported, citing The Information, that Tesla was preparing two versions of the car: a standard Roadster, and a limited SpaceX-built variant with cold-gas thrusters that will not be street legal.
Tesla had originally announced the new Roadster's launch for October 1, nearly nine years after the car was first unveiled. The original teaser featured the words “Go for launch” and the date “10.01,” while Tesla's Roadster website added a countdown to the event.
