WeRide enters the Nordics with GreenMobility robotaxi partnership in Denmark

EVwire brief: WeRide has entered Denmark through a new partnership with Danish mobility platform GreenMobility, marking the Chinese autonomous driving company's first expansion into the Nordic region.

The companies plan to launch Denmark's first commercial autonomous shared mobility service during the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals. The service will use WeRide's GXR, the company's latest European Union-compliant Level 4 robotaxi, which riders will be able to hail through the platform.

WeRide stated that it will work with the Danish Road Directorate and the Danish Road Traffic Authority to conduct testing and deployment in accordance with Danish and EU regulations.

The agreement extends WeRide's asset-light expansion strategy, where local operators manage fleets and customer relationships while WeRide supplies its autonomous driving technology. GreenMobility operates the Nordic region's largest free-floating car-sharing network, with more than 1,500 electric vehicles.

Denmark stands as the sixth European market for WeRide, following expansions into France, Belgium, Switzerland, Slovakia, and Spain. The move also comes as Chinese autonomous driving companies accelerate their push into Europe, with rivals including Pony AI, Apollo Go, and Momenta announcing new deployments or testing programs across the region in recent months.

Context:

GreenMobility has already emerged as a key partner for autonomous mobility companies looking to enter Europe. In late 2025, the Danish company signed a letter of intent with California-based Tensor to explore deploying up to 2,000 Tensor Robocars in Denmark, with Copenhagen envisioned as the initial launch market.

The proposed collaboration positioned GreenMobility as Tensor's planned launch partner in Europe and highlighted the company's ambitions beyond conventional car sharing. Although that agreement remains non-binding, WeRide's partnership reinforces GreenMobility's growing role as a gateway for autonomous mobility companies seeking a foothold in the Nordic market.
