EVwire brief: XPENG has unveiled the L03, a new AI-powered SUV coupe that will serve as the company's global gateway model. Introduced today in Munich, the L03 brings XPENG's latest intelligent driving platform, next-generation software, and premium cabin features into a more accessible segment as the automaker continues expanding its presence outside China.
Rather than chasing outright performance, XPENG says the L03 was designed around "technology for all." The model sits below the G6 and G9 in the company's lineup and combines practical everyday usability with the intelligent features that have become central to XPENG's vehicles.

The L03 features a 2850 mm wheelbase, which makes its cabin feel spacious despite its compact size.
Leading the technology package is XPENG's new XOS 6 intelligent cockpit, making the L03 the company's first vehicle with native Google Maps integration. Higher-spec Ultra models are also equipped with three XPENG Turing AI chips that power the company's latest VLA 2.0 intelligent driving platform.
The automaker posted a video of the vehicle in Munich:
The L03 will be available in both battery-electric and PowerX extended-range variants. The fully electric version offers up to 520 km (323 miles) of WLTP range, while the extended-range model delivers more than 1,000 km (621 miles) of combined driving range. XPENG says the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes under fast charging.
Designed by former Ferrari Chief Exterior Designer JuanMa Lopez, the L03 pairs its coupe-inspired styling with a drag coefficient of 0.228. XPENG says the SUV also emphasizes practicality, offering 539 liters of cargo space, up to 1,500 kg (3,307 lbs) of towing capacity, heated, ventilated and massage seats, and 37 storage compartments throughout the cabin.

The L03 features Xpeng’s XOS 6 intelligent cockpit system, which includes features such as native Google Maps integration.
Pricing
XPENG also confirmed European pricing for the L03. In Germany, the battery-electric model starts at €35,600 (about US$41,700), while the PowerX extended-range (REEV) variant starts at €38,600 (about US$45,200).

The L03 starts at €35,600 (about US$41,700) in Germany, which is pretty competitive in its segment.

Here’s Out of Spec Roaming’s rundown of the vehicle, straight from Munich.
Context:
The L03 expands XPENG's global SUV lineup as the brand's new entry point beneath the G6 and G9. Rather than positioning the vehicle around outright luxury or performance, XPENG says it was developed to deliver the technologies that matter most to mainstream buyers, combining intelligent driving, premium cabin features, generous interior space, and everyday practicality in a more accessible package.
The model also marks an important technology milestone for the Chinese automaker. The L03 is the first XPENG vehicle to launch with the company's new XOS 6 software platform and native Google Maps integration through a direct SDK architecture. Higher-end versions also introduce XPENG's latest Turing AI chips and next-generation VLA 2.0 intelligent driving system, reflecting the company's broader push toward AI-defined vehicles for global markets.

Observations from Munich
Now we probably should admit that Jaan is currently in attendance at XPENG’s L03 debut event. So we’re going to be adding some of his insights and photos from the event here.
Like any EV event, the L03 launch opens with remarks from the CEO. He Xiaopeng took the stage to highlight some of XPENG’s milestones, as well as its intense focus on R&D.

CEO He Xiaopeng takes the stage at the L03 launch event in Munich.
Of XPENG's more than 30,000 employees worldwide, 44.79% work in R&D. In 2025, XPENG invested approximately €1.22 billion in R&D and holds 3,761 granted patents. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, R&D spending exceeded €370 million, up 46.8% year-on-year. Overall, XPENG has established 8 R&D centers and 6 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

44.79% of employees working in R&D is serious commitment. That’s an aggressive push into tech, and it shows.
By the end of 2028, XPENG plans to expand its charging network to 31 countries and regions, with over 3,780 self-operated ultra-fast charging stations and access to more than 2.7 million charging points globally.

XPENG, like other EV makers like BYD and Tesla, is building a rapid charging network worldwide.
The CEO also took some time to discuss the company’s robotaxi ambitions. We recently covered XPENG’s first live test of its GX robotaxi service in China, and according to the CEO, the service will be coming to Europe as well. This will likely be some time away, though, since XPENG is still expected to start operational testing of its robotaxi service in China next year.

XPENG’s robotaxis in China use the company’s GX platform. It remains to be seen if XPENG will use the same car for its European robotaxi plans.
The L03 is made to handle Europe's harsh winters. The vehicle reduces low-temperature energy consumption by 20%. Its comprehensive heat pump system recovers waste heat from 11 vehicle sources, maintaining stable energy efficiency across a wide temperature range from -30°C to 40°C.

The L03’s Cold Weather Package climate is tailored to local weather conditions, featuring a heated windshield and heated washer nozzles for greater peace of mind during winter driving.
