EVwire brief: Amazon is putting more than 50 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 battery-electric trucks on German roads, with the first 27 already handed over at the truck's production plant in Wörth am Rhein.
The vehicles are part of a 200+ unit order signed in early 2025, the largest electric truck deal in Amazon's history. To support the rollout, Amazon is investing more than €1 billion ($1.18 billion) in electrifying its European transportation network, including over €400 million (about $465 million) in Germany alone.
The handover of these vehicles is a milestone for the electrification of our transportation network. Electric solutions have already been widely used for some time in last-mile package delivery to customers. The eActros 600 is Mercedes-Benz Trucks' battery-electric flagship for long-haul freight. It packs over 600 kWh of LFP battery capacity across three packs, delivering a range of 500 kilometers (about 310 miles) at a gross combination weight of 40 metric tons (about 88,000 lbs).
With intermediate charging during mandatory driver breaks, the truck can cover well over 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) per day. Charging from 10% to 80% takes around 70 minutes at a 400 kW DC fast-charging station.
Amazon is using the eActros 600 trucks on middle-mile routes, transporting goods between fulfillment centers and urban areas. The UK, where the majority of the 200+ order is headed, began receiving deliveries in late 2025. To keep the fleet running, Amazon is installing hundreds of heavy goods vehicle chargers at its European locations.

The eActros 600 is manufactured in Wörth am Rhein and was developed for demanding long-haul transport. The fact that Amazon relies on our vehicles underscores the confidence in our technology and also shows that the electrification of heavy-duty transport is increasingly becoming reality. Such partnerships are crucial to further accelerate the transformation of the transport industry.
The handover also drew attention from Germany's federal and state governments. Parliamentary State Secretary Christian Hirte called it proof that "Germany's automotive industry now offers a strong range of high-performance electric trucks that prove their value in real-world operations, even without government support." The eActros 600 was named International Truck of the Year 2025.

The electric freight space has been accelerating across both sides of the Atlantic, and Amazon's 200+ truck commitment to Mercedes-Benz is one of the clearest signs yet that major logistics players are done piloting and starting to scale.
Across the Atlantic, the e-truck momentum is just as strong. We recently covered Google's partnership with Nevoya to deploy 63 electric semi trucks (including 25 funded by Google) on the Houston-Dallas corridor, the largest Class 8 BEV deployment in Texas. Amazon itself is one of five corporate partners in that Nevoya fleet. And on the infrastructure side, a Vancouver-to-Mexico zero-emissions freight corridor is taking shape along I-5, with 20 electric truck charging stations planned and private partners including Volvo, Tesla, and several logistics firms.
