EVwire brief: Bolt wants to start running autonomous rides in Greater Paris in 2028, with the ride-hailing company joining forces with Stellantis and the Métropole du Grand Paris on the project. The service could potentially reach roughly 30 of the region's towns and cities by 2030.
The robotaxis could end up using Pony.ai's autonomous driving software, which the partners have flagged as a possible option. Pony.ai's system would run on NVIDIA's Hyperion platform, with NVIDIA's Halos handling the safety side.
The partners have entered the project, dubbed the Greater Paris Autonomous Driving Living Lab, into the European Commission's ADACities program. The first robotaxis would hit the road in as many as five municipalities in the region's north-west.
Bolt announced the initiative on LinkedIn:

From there, the partners will study whether the service can spread across the wider metro area and turn commercial by 2030, pending approvals.
Each partner has its own job. Bolt's self-driving unit, Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions, will put the service together and plan where it goes. Stellantis is building the vehicles on its L4-Ready Platforms, and the Métropole du Grand Paris will work with local governments and run the project's evaluation.

Context:
Greater Paris is the latest addition to Bolt's autonomous plans in Europe, and it brings back some familiar partners. Bolt partnered with Pony.ai in late 2025, and the two later joined Stellantis for an autonomous mobility pilot in Luxembourg, with Pony.ai's Gen-7 system running in a Stellantis vehicle.
Bolt is also working with Lucid, with plans to deploy at least 25,000 autonomous Lucid vehicles across Europe. Earlier this week, Bolt picked NVIDIA's Alpamayo Stack to drive those vehicles, starting in Madrid in 2027. All in all, Bolt is targeting 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035.
