EVwire brief: Geely is preparing to unveil a new 2.2 MW fast-charging system that it says can deliver four-minute charging, putting the automaker's next-generation technology directly against BYD's Flash Charging system.
Geely has teased its next-generation AI smart charging technology ahead of a September 23 unveiling at the Geely Global All-Domain Safety Center in Ningbo, China. The company is promoting the system under the slogan “4-Minute Smart Charging, Worry-Free Journeys.”

Geely has also published at least two teaser posters counting down to the September 23 event at its Global All-Domain Safety Center in Ningbo, China, each one leaning on a different part of the pitch.
One reads "2.2 megawatts, still calm," pairing the power figure with a promise that the system stays cool at that output. The other carries the slogan "smart charging in four minutes, worry-free travel."

Geely has not said which vehicle will debut the system, and the teasers stop short of explaining how the algorithm actually works, though the company featured. Lynk and Co. 10 sedan in its teaser. The company says it will livestream the reveal on September 23 at 7:00 PM China Standard Time (7:00 AM ET), where those details are expected to surface.

Context:
Fast charging has become one of the sharpest fronts in China's EV competition, and BYD currently sets the pace. BYD's Flash Charging system delivers up to 1.5 MW through a single connector, with BYD's own marketing built around a 10%-to-70% charge in about five minutes and a 97% top-off in nine, the exact tagline Geely's teaser is aimed at.
BYD has pushed that hardware from flagship sedans down to the sub-$18,000 Atto 3 and out to heavy-duty trucks with the ETT 44 tractor, building out the widest fast-charging footprint of any Chinese automaker while Geely worked on its own answer.
Geely isn't starting from zero on megawatt charging. Geely-owned Zeekr has previously demonstrated its own megawatt-class charging hardware, giving the group in-house experience to draw on for this AI-managed system.
