EVwire brief: NICA Container Freight Line Inc will deploy 20 Tesla Semi units in Southern California, operating out of Forum Mobility’s Rancho Dominguez charging depot.
The trucks and supporting infrastructure are expected to go live in early 2027, with operations focused on port drayage serving the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Forum Mobility announced the update on LinkedIn.
Context:
NICA Container Freight Line is a Los Angeles-based, family-owned logistics operator with established routes across the Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Houston. The business started operations in 2014, just three years before Tesla initially unveiled the Semi.
CEO Jakeline Lopez said the company is investing in zero-emission trucks to support customers and drivers while expanding its operations.
“On behalf of our customers and drivers, we want to invest in advanced technology. We’re excited to grow our business with these awesome new zero-emission trucks.”
Forum Mobility will provide depot-based charging and operational support for NICA’s Tesla Semis at its Rancho Dominguez site, FM Santa Fe, which is currently under development.
Four additional depots are expected to be deployed through this year and early next year. FM Sante Fe is expected to go online in Q1 2027, and it will feature 14 lanes of ultra-fast pull-through MCS charging.

Tesla Semi adoption builds across Forum Mobility network
NICA Container’s Tesla Semi order follows a separate update from Forum Mobility, indicating that Big F Transport is expanding its electric fleet with an order for 40 Tesla Semis after piloting the vehicle.
Here’s our coverage of Big F’s 40 Tesla Semi orders:
Big F previously operated nine Daimler eCascadia trucks out of the FM Harbor facility at the Port of Long Beach. Similar to NICA Container’s fleet, Big F’s Tesla Semi units are also expected to run from the Rancho Dominguez depot.
Matt LeDucq, CEO of co-founder of Forum Mobility, welcomed NICA Container’s business.
“We are proud to have earned the business of NICA Container, and look forward to supporting their operations with low-cost, reliable, and exceptionally fast charging as they expand their zero-emission freight capabilities,” he said.
