EVwire brief: Waymo is adding nearly 250 square miles to its robotaxi service areas across five US cities over the next week: Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Here's where each city is growing:
Los Angeles: South along the coast into the South Bay, including Torrance.
Nashville: Further south, with the zoo now in reach.
Orlando: Coverage in the east nearly doubles, with enhanced service downtown.
San Diego: North to La Jolla.
San Francisco Bay Area: More areas to the south, including a new BART connection at Berryessa Station.
Riders can check the new boundaries in the Waymo app or on Waymo's updated service area maps.

Context:
The expansion caps a busy October for Waymo's US service. In mid-October, the company opened rides to everyone in San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa. Waymo started pickups at Nashville International Airport and Las Vegas' Harry Reid International this month as well. The company also began fully driverless testing in Detroit ahead of its first riders there.
Waymo is lining up new markets abroad at the same time. It announced plans to launch robotaxi service in Toronto in 2028, and named Madrid as a market with first riders targeted for 2027. The company is also working toward launches in Munich and Singapore.
