EVwire brief: Tesla's Robotaxi fleet in Texas has officially crossed 1,000 vehicles, and the Cybercab now makes up the majority of it.
The milestone capped a flurry of Cybercab registrations on October 27. A batch of 29 that evening lifted the Cybercab's tally in Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) records to 573, up 222 units from just a week earlier.
Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt shared the latest tally on X:

The Cybercab pulled ahead of the Model Y Robotaxi fleet in Merritt's midday snapshot from the same day. Of the 1,051 vehicles registered to Tesla's Robotaxi service in Texas at that point, 544 were Cybercabs and 507 were Model Ys:
That snapshot landed nine minutes after Merritt reported an 81-vehicle Cybercab batch, the biggest of the day. At that point, Tesla's seven-day Cybercab additions sat just shy of 200:

Context:
Tesla's Cybercab ramp in Texas has been quick. The vehicle first appeared in TxDMV records on August 31, and registrations reached 126 by late September. A record 150-unit batch on October 9 pushed the count to 319, followed by 349 a few days later and 465 over Austin's F1 weekend, when the entire fleet stood at about 970 vehicles. This means that Tesla has more than quadrupled its Cybercab registrations in Texas in about a month.
Tesla is also preparing to take the Cybercab beyond Austin. During its Q3 2026 earnings call, Tesla said Cybercab rides would launch in Dallas next month, and that it is aiming to get Cybercabs to customers by the end of 2026. That said, TxDMV registrations only reflect vehicles registered to the Robotaxi fleet, not how many of them are giving rides at any given time.
