EVwire brief: BYD says a Yangwang U7 battery retained 98.7% of its original capacity after the car covered 30,000 km in less than nine days and underwent more than 350 ultra-fast charging sessions.
The test was designed to put the U7's battery under an unusually intense combination of stress. A production car randomly selected from a retail showroom drove continuously at 240 km/h (149 mph) in Nanning, China, where average temperatures exceeded 36°C (97°F) and humidity reached 80%.
The U7 completed the 30,000-km (18,600-mile) run in 8 days, 19 hours and 58 minutes. During that time, it went through more than 350 BYD Flash charging cycles before its battery capacity was measured at 98.7%.
That works out to a 1.3% reduction in measured capacity after roughly 18,600 miles of driving and hundreds of high-power charging sessions.

BYD’s torture test of the Yangwang’s battery lasted more than eight days.
The test is particularly relevant because the U7 uses BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and supports the company's latest Flash Charging system. The system can charge the U7 from 10% to 97% in about nine minutes under BYD's stated conditions.
BYD said the test car was a standard production vehicle rather than a specially modified endurance prototype. Yangwang also said it had accumulated 10.49 million km of testing across 758 U7 test vehicles before the model's market launch. Yangwang General Manager Hu Xiaoqing even stated that the company welcomes verification of its data.
Yangwang welcomes verification and testing from all independent institutions and individuals.

This roughly translates to “We welcome institutions and individuals to verify our data.”

Context:
Needless to say, BYD’s results are encouraging, but it isn't a substitute for long-term ownership data. Battery degradation is affected by factors including time, temperature, charging behavior and usage patterns, and this test lasted less than nine days.
That said, BYD's current offering for the Yangwang U7 provides lifetime warranty coverage for the first owner on its “three-electric” system, which includes the vehicle's core electric components. BYD, however, does not appear to publish a specific capacity-retention guarantee for the U7.
