EVwire brief: Einride plans to put approximately 75 Tesla Semis into operation before the end of 2026, with the other 425 following by the end of 2027, as confirmed by the Einride CEO, Roozbeh Charli, in a video interview with FreightWaves.
The recent announcement of the 500-truck order previously only said that deliveries would run in multiple phases over 24 months starting this September.
Charli said: โTesla, once again, also a relationship we have had for a while, and as the Tesla Semi deliveries are firming up, we decided to do a larger commitment to that and deploy that on our platform,โ and then talked about specific numbers:
The initial order is 500 trucks; weโre expecting, you know, 75 approximately of that to be deployed this side of the year, and targeting to have the rest deployed by the end of next year. This is US-focused.

Charli also mentioned in the interview, that the 75 Amazon electric trucks we wrote about in April are planned to be deployed in full by the end of this year. Back then, no vehicle partner was announced yet, but now the CEO confirmed that a part of that will be the Tesla trucks that were just ordered.

Deliveries begin next month, which leaves September through December to place those first 75. That works out to about 19 trucks a month.
The 425 booked for 2027 need roughly 35 a month, close to double the paceโฆ which is fitting, as Tesla is ramping up its Semi production and, as weโve reported, has gathered quite the backlog as well.
Einride is at the forefront of sustainable freight and we are thrilled to deepen our relationship with them through this order of 500 Semis. EV heavy trucks provide lower costs per mile from fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and better uptime over diesel trucks. These savings increase further through operational efficiency when deploying EV trucks at scale, and we are excited that Einride recognizes this and look forward to supporting their deployments.
Nothing else about the deal has moved. The trucks run on Einride's Saga AI platform, hauling for Amazon and other shippers along freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia.
At 500 units, it is still the largest Tesla Semi deployment anyone has announced, and it roughly triples Einride's deployed electric fleet.

Context:
Tesla's Semi Factory in Sparks, Nevada opens officially on September 24 with an invite-only rollout event. The 1.7-million-square-foot building next to Gigafactory Nevada is designed to reach 50,000 trucks a year, and the first Semi came off its high-volume line in late April.

Einride's ambitions run well past this one order. The company has told FreightWaves it is targeting 1,500 to 2,000 trucks in operation by 2028, the point at which it expects to reach cash-flow breakeven. It runs around 250 today.

Other fleets are picking up their first trucks on a similar timeline. Bison Transport started testing the Semi in Chicago this month, and weโve covered several logistics companies placing an order for the Semis, from 370 to WattEV to 20 trucks to ATC Logistics.
