EVwire brief: Tesla has scaled its Cybercab fleet in Austin to more than 300 units. The company's purpose-built Robotaxi now gearing up for its next city: Dallas.
Tesla's official Robotaxi X account shared the milestone over the weekend. The post confirmed that the company has scaled to more than 300 Cybercabs in Austin just one month after launch. That's an 8x increase in 30 days.
Here's the announcement from the official Robotaxi account on X:
Tesla's main account also hinted at the ramp a couple of days earlier. The company shared a picture of numerous Cybercabs in everyday traffic and simply wrote: “Floodgates are opening.”

Tesla VP of AI Software Ashok Elluswamy also highlighted the news. In an X post, he pointed out the Robotaxi account’s announcement marked the second anniversary of Tesla’s WeRobot event, where the Cybercab was first unveiled. Elluswamy noted that the "cabs are everywhere in Austin now." He also teased that Cybercab rides are coming to Dallas next.
Tesla's Robotaxi service already operates in Dallas, though the current fleet there is just comprised of self-driving Model Y vehicles, not Cybercabs. This means that Dallas would be the first city outside Austin to get Tesla's two-seat Robotaxi, which has no steering wheel or pedals.

Context:
The Cybercab's ramp in Austin has been showing up in Texas registration data. Earlier this month, Tesla registered a record 150 Cybercabs in the state, bringing its total from 169 to 319. Cybercab public rides first opened in Austin on September 4 across the city's entire Robotaxi geofence.
Tesla also has the factory capacity to keep the ramp going. Tesla’s Q2 shareholder deck listed installed capacity of 125,000 Cybercabs per year, though this might increase more in the future as the company optimizes and masters its Unboxed manufacturing system.
Tesla has been laying the groundwork in the Dallas area as well. Back in May, permits revealed plans for a 35,000-square-foot autonomous fleet operations site in Irving, Texas with room for up to 212 vehicles and 16 V4 Supercharger stalls.
