EVwire brief: Forum Mobility is breaking ground on four new heavy-duty EV charging depots in California, adding 30 MW of charging capacity to its network. The new sites will use Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology alongside CCS chargers and are backed by commitments from commercial fleets, including reservations for more than 330 Tesla Semis. Tesla will operate public Megachargers at three of the sites.
The new depots will span Northern and Southern California and use pull-through charging lanes that allow trucks to remain connected to their trailers while charging. Forum says its MCS chargers can provide up to a 60% range boost in about 30 minutes, giving commercial operators a faster charging option without requiring them to disconnect their chassis.
The four locations are:
FM Santa Fe in Rancho Dominguez: Forum has contracted fleet offtake for more than 330 Tesla Semis while keeping the site open to other commercial carriers.
FM Francis in Ontario: Tesla will operate a public Megacharging site at the depot.
FM Adeline in Oakland: Another Tesla-operated public Megacharging site.
FM Coliseum in Oakland: Tesla will also operate public Megacharging here.

Forum Mobility is also adding two Tesla MCS Megachargers to FM Harbor, its existing depot at the Port of Long Beach. The site has been operating since December 2024 with 44 CCS charging ports and 9 MW of overall capacity.
Overall, the expansion will bring Forum's total heavy-duty charging capacity to more than 40 MW online and under construction, with 25 carrier customers committed to guaranteed utilization.

Forum Mobility CEO and co-founder Matt LeDucq said the company is seeing growing demand for electric Class 8 trucks and the infrastructure needed to support them.

FM Santa Fe in Rancho Dominguez is a site EVwire has been tracking for a while. Two of the carriers running trucks out of that depot, ATC Logistics and QX Logistix, each ordered 20 Tesla Semis earlier this year, a small slice of the 330-plus Semis Forum now says are contracted for that one depot alone. Today's announcement is the first time Forum has put a hard number on just how much of Santa Fe's capacity is already committed.
It's also notable that Tesla itself is the one operating the public Megacharging stalls at three of the four sites, rather than Forum installing and running third-party hardware throughout. That points to a deepening relationship between Tesla and one of the country's larger heavy-duty charging developers, right as the Tesla Semi ramps toward full production.
Forum says it's already developing its next tranche of depots beyond California, including sites in the Inland Empire and Central Valley, plus Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Seattle/Tacoma, and Chicago.
