EVwire brief: Tesla's European Semi looks remarkably similar to the truck already operating in North America, but a close look at the Euro-spec version reveals several changes Tesla made for the European market.
The most obvious is the camera-based side mirror system. Tesla replaced the conventional mirrors used on the North American Semi with camera-monitor devices mounted on either side of the cab. The system is permitted under UNECE Regulation No. 46, which recognizes camera-monitor systems as devices for indirect vision alongside conventional mirrors.
Tesla's team also told EVwire that the Semi has 10 cameras positioned around the truck, providing what the company described as a full 360-degree view with no blind spots. Jaan was able to see the camera feeds on the truck's interior displays during his walkaround.

The front end has also changed. Tesla replaced the North American Semi's distinctive light bar with separate headlights. This gives the European truck a noticeably different face when the headlights are engaged.

There is another lighting change higher up the truck that is easier to miss. The two lights positioned near the top of the windshield on the US Semi have been moved onto the very top of the cab on the European version. In the Tesla Semi US version, these lights are at the top of the windshield.

Tesla also added an emergency escape ladder inside the cab. It provides an alternative way out if the truck ends up on its side and the normal doors become difficult or impossible to use. Tesla told EVwire that the ladder was one of the changes required for the European market.

There are also some less obvious adaptations. Tesla adjusted the upper portion of the cab to better match European trailer heights while maintaining the truck's aerodynamic profile. Despite that, Tesla confirmed to EVwire that the Standard Range European Semi's cab is exactly the same length and width as the US version.

Tesla officially released the Semi Europe version’s specs last week, confirming 550 km (342 miles) of range at a full 40-tonne gross combination weight, energy consumption of 1.0 kWh/km, and Megacharger support at up to 800 kW. European deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027. Only the Standard Range variant is being released for Europe right now, though expectations are high that the Tesla Semi Long Range would also be brought to the continent.
