EVwire brief: Hight Logistics, a Long Beach drayage company that already runs 25 battery-electric Class 8 trucks, is adding more Tesla Semis to its port fleet next year and building out the charging infrastructure to keep them moving.
The Semis will haul containers at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, where Hight has already been testing a Tesla Semi since earlier this year.
Hight described the plan in a LinkedIn post:
For us, this is not about adding a few trucks for show. It is about continuing to build the equipment, charging capacity, and operational foundation needed to move freight sustainably at scale.

The Tesla Semi isn't new to Hight's yard. Earlier this year, the company put a Tesla Semi to work delivering a customer's container to the TPM logistics conference, and said at the time that more Tesla trucks would join its fleet in the near future.
Back then, Hight already operated its fleet of trucks, most of which are Volvo VNR Electric units, and it has already installed six dual-charging stations at its facility. This allows up to 12 electric trucks to charge at the same time between port trips.

Context:
Hight was founded by Rudy Diaz, who came up through the drayage business before starting his own company. Its electric push began in earnest in 2024, when it ordered 24 Volvo VNR Electric trucks and set up Hight Electric, a division dedicated to battery-electric trucks and the chargers behind them. According to its website, the fleet has now logged more than 1 million EV miles (1.61 million km), with charging handled in its own Long Beach yard.
Hight is one of several Southern California drayage fleets now lining up Semis for port work. ATC Logistics, QX Logistix and NICA Container Freight Line have each committed to 20 Semis operating from Forum Mobility depots, while Forum Mobility itself has begun installing Tesla Megachargers at FM Harbor, its main Long Beach port site.
