EVwire brief: Tesla Cybercab registrations reached 465 registrations as the Robotaxi fleet stayed busy through Formula 1 weekend in Austin.
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) records reveal that Tesla registered 43 Cybercabs in a single day, bringing the fleet total to 465. Just a day earlier, Tesla registered a batch of 69 Cybercabs, bringing the fleet total to 420. The Model Y side of the fleet also saw 53 added on October 21, which means there are now about 970 Robotaxis in Texas.

The fleet had a busy weekend on Texas roads as well. Tesla's Robotaxi service saw heavy use during the F1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, which ran from October 23 to 25.
Ben Steindl shared a photo of a long line of Tesla Robotaxis during the race weekend. Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla's VP of AI Software, reposted Steindl’s photo saying: "Robotaxis as far as the eye can see!"
Other videos showed numerous Cybercabs operating even at night, seemingly filling the roads with their numbers. In a post on X, Elluswamy described the scene as a “Storm of Cybercabs.”

Context:
The Cybercab's climb to its current fleet size has been quick. Cybercabs first appeared in TxDMV records on August 31, and a record 150-unit batch on October 9 pushed the count from 169 to 319. It reached 349 a few days later, with the Model Y line staying flat at 420 the whole time, meaning that the Cybercab has accounted for all of the fleet's recent growth.
Tesla is also preparing to take the Cybercab beyond Austin. During the Q3 2026 earnings call, Elluswamy said Cybercab rides would launch in Dallas next month, while VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy said Tesla is trying to get Cybercabs to customers by the end of 2026. This means that the Cybercab-heavy fleet Austin saw over F1 weekend could soon have company in other Texas cities.
