EVwire brief: Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised/Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD) has been approved in Latvia, making it the tenth European Union country to allow the advanced driver-assist system on public roads.
Tesla said in a press release sent to EVwire that it has received regulatory approval to offer TAD in Latvia, with the rollout to customer vehicles set to begin shortly through an over-the-air software update. TAD will cost €99 ($116) per month in Latvia. With the approval, all three Baltic states have now cleared FSD/TAD.
Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa also announced the approval on X:

In its press materials, Tesla noted that drivers using TAD see up to seven times fewer collisions per kilometer than with manual driving alone. TAD has logged more than 182 million km (113 million miles) in Europe since its customer debut in the Netherlands in April, and more than 25 billion km (15.5 billion miles) worldwide. The system still requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle autonomous.
Tesla also said Latvia's approval follows more than two years of work to bring the system to Europe:
"Tesla has prepared thousands of pages of documentation, carried out test scenarios on the track thousands of times, conducted dozens of studies on safety performance and outcomes, and demonstrated the system to the regulators of almost every EU country."
Tesla's demo ride campaign, which it started in select European countries in late 2025, has also let more than 21,000 people try TAD on European roads.

Context:
Latvia is a relatively new market for Tesla. The company officially registered in Latvia and Estonia in January, and its local lineup now starts at €37,970 ($44,570) for the Model 3 and €41,970 ($49,270) for the Model Y. Tesla says its first TAD test drives in Latvia are expected to begin this week.
Latvia joins the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, Czechia, Croatia and Slovakia on the list of EU countries that have individually cleared FSD Supervised/TAD. Slovakia's approval came just ten days ago.
Each national approval adds weight to the case for a bloc-wide authorization. FSD/TAD needs a qualified majority of at least 15 of the EU's 27 member states, representing 65% of the EU population, with the EU Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles' December meeting seen as the earliest likely opportunity for a vote.
